Warm tropical nights in Ocho Rios offer unlimited possibilities for fun and activities.  The cool breeze and clear star-filled skies invite travelers to explore the island even after the sun has set.  Here are some ideas for making the most of nightlife in Ocho Rios.

Check with local newspapers for nightlife happenings when you arrive in Ocho Rios.  If you are staying in a hotel, ask staff members and the concierge about current nighttime hot spots.  If you plan on using an ATM machine on your nights out, remember that the machines typically dispense Jamaican dollars.  

Jamaica has some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.  Consider beginning your evening on a sunset cruise.  There are many tour operations that offer these cruises complete with dinner, drinks, and entertainment.  The intimate cargo of passengers is a great way to get to know other people vacationing on the island.  Rum punch, Red Stripe, reggae, and limbo are some of the ingredients for an evening cruise that won¡¯t be soon forgotten.

Many of the all-inclusive resorts offer beachside dining and entertainment.  The activity staff members of these resorts fill the evening with live reggae performances, fire dancers, and talent shows.  Many of these hotels also offer reliable childcare services if you wish to venture away from the property.

Hedonism III is located 18 miles west of Ocho Rios.  This all-inclusive resort offers passes for a fee to guests who don¡¯t have accommodations at the hotel.  The well-known adult only playground offers an all-night disco, a 200-foot spiral waterslide, and oversized hot tubs.  The resort has a wild reputation and is definitely for uninhibited couples and singles.

The Ruins offers a unique nighttime dining experience.  The tables sit at the base of a 40-foot waterfall.  The cascade is illuminated at nighttime and soft music is part of the atmosphere at this romantic location.  Reservations are suggested and dress is casually elegant.  

Jamaic¡¯N Me Crazy, at the Renaissance Jamaica Grande, has an excellent lighting and sound system.  There is usually a diverse crowd at this location.  A more authentic Jamaican experience may be found at a club called Amnesia.  Nightlife at the clubs in Ocho Rios often begins and lasts well into the night.  You may also consider hiring a taxi driver for tips on hot locales, but always agree on transportation costs before hiring their services.  

The Little Pub Complex includes a sports bar with live sports programming, an outdoor grill, slot machines, and a Spanish theme bar.  The original musical ¡°Caribbean Dream¡± is also performed here several nights a week.  This complex is a central gathering place for nightlife in Ocho Rios.

If you decide you want to have a pizza while you are in Jamaica, visit the Pineapple Pizza Pub.  The Pineapple is a small restaurant adjacent to the Pineapple Place Hotel.  They offer inside dining and hamburgers and fried chicken as well as pizza.  One of their specialties is, not surprisingly, a Pineapple Pizza.

Glenn¡¯s Restaurant and Pub serves continental entrees.  It is also a Jazz club that often features well-known artists.  This restaurant is a 15-minute ride to the east, but the restaurant will often send a driver to provide transportation.  Call ahead and give them plenty of notice.
