So you*ve found yourself in Central New York 每 Rochester specifically 每 and you*re in need of some evening entertainment? You*ve come to the right place. Here*re some suggestions to access the nightlife of Rochester, NY.
First if you*re interested in dinner before the rest of your evening begins, do not miss Jeremiah's Tavern at 1104 Monroe Ave. It*s a bar and grill atmosphere so don*t worry about dressing up and reservations aren*t necessary. The menu is extensive and be sure to give the wings that range from mild to catatonic in flavor a try. The atmosphere is welcoming and the prices are affordable (as most everything is in Central NY). If you happen there on a Friday (and you*re lucky enough to get a table) do not pass on the nine-ounce haddock Fish Fry. All the ingredients are fresh and made from scratch and to wash it all down Jeremiah*s has 20 beers on tap as well as an array of others.
If you*re feeling adventurous and in the mood for a little less ※American§ food, head over to The King and I at 1475 East Henrietta Rd for an authentic Thai food experience. The atmosphere is really engaging and the menu is expertly prepared and then served by friendly waitstaff. The prices are accommodating and the portions are generous, making the King and I a sure bet for a unique dining experience.
Now you*re ready to start the rest of your evening. If you*re in search of live entertainment, the Water St Music Hall features local and national talent ranging from alternative to jam band to good ol* rock and roll. Displayed on the wall are signed press photos from a variety of noteworthy acts and be prepared for a mosh pit on any given night.
If you*re not so into the large crowd live music scene, the Bug Jar is a colorful world of local artists featuring smaller, more intimate live music scenes 每 acoustic acts, open mics and poetry readings for the hipster crowds. A place with an interesting name and an even more intriguing interior (in one room all the furniture is on the ceiling!).
If you*re looking for more of a club scene, Rochester has an array of establishments that will suit any interest. Tapa*s One Seventy Seven Lounge has a distinct Spanish flavor and features the locally renowned DJ Luna spinning his mixes all night long. With an extensive wine-list this upmarket club will transport you from the North East US thousands of miles East to Spain with its authentic vibe.
You*re more interested in uncovering the Rochester arts scene? The Eastman Theater is regionally renowned for drawing large-scale musicals and off-Broadway plays. Grab a Democrat and Chronicle and investigate their Arts and Culture section to find out what the locally-loved Little Theater is playing tonight. Regular features include a variety of indie and foreign-flics bound to tantalize anyone who regularly strays from the mainstream path.
As your evening winds down, take you and your friends out for coffee at any of Rochester*s well-loved Spot Coffee. With their comfy red velour couches and wide array of drink and munchy selections it won*t be hard to find something you*d like, but my recommendation is the White Hot Chocolate and a peanut butter cookie 每 can*t go wrong with either.
