If music is your passion, Louisiana is the music culture capitol of the world. Cajun, jazz, rockabilly, and gospel music can be found in Louisiana.  Although music is rich in Louisiana, it is also a sportsman¡¯s paradise, with ample fishing opportunities and lots of wildlife. There is plenty of history and culture to be had in the urban areas of Louisiana; listed below are some destinations of interest.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Located in the southeast corner of Louisiana, this area is lush with history. New Orleans¡¯ early connection with Spain and France reveals a strong European look to the town. When touring New Orleans, you will observe many 100+ year old mansions along St. Charles Avenue, and many colorful Creole cottages with their ornate iron balconies and secret gardens.  As you continue deeper into the city, you will find many museums such as the National D-Day Museum and the New Orleans Children¡¯s Museum.  In the warehouse district of New Orleans, you will find many galleries of musicians, writers, and artists.  The Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the New Orleans Art Museum, also reside in the warehouse district.  You can tour New Orleans via walking tours through the French Quarter, ride a street car, or take a horse and buggy through downtown.  If your hungry, this town is famous for its gumbos, poor-boys and pecan-crusted trout.

Sportsman¡¯s Paradise, Louisiana

Located in northern Louisiana, this area is thick with pine trees, rolling hills and wildlife.  The clear lakes and streams are abundant with trout and bass. You will also find Mansfield Battleground, a Civil War site, and, Poverty Point, where Native Americans trapped deer and traded pottery.  In addition to the great outdoors of Sportsman Paradise, there is plenty of night life in its gaming casinos in the town of Shreveport and Bossier City.  The American Rose Center and Ark-La-Tex Antique and Classic Vehicle Museum can also be found in the Sportsman Paradise area.

Cajun Country, Louisiana 

Located in south central, Louisiana- stretching to the Gulf of Mexico. This bayou country was settled by the French Canadians, whose heritage is revealed by the landscape and culture.  Gumbo has replaced soup, and washboards are musical instruments in this mystical swamp paradise.  In Cajun Country you will discover the unique Cajun music and cuisine such as crawfish etouffe.  In Lafayette you will find two living history museums- Acadian Village, featuring an historic blacksmith shop, Doctors Museum, and the Mississippi Mud Museum where you can view a 400 year old canoe. Traveling a little southeast of Lafayette, to Shadows on the Tech, you will find a beautiful southern plantation. Continuing along the Cajun coast down to Morgan City, you can find many swamp adventures including wildlife, or you can venture out into the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico for a deep sea fishing excursion. Stop by Lake Charles for a day of sun and surf fishing.  You may choose to end your Cajun tour at the All American Road Nature Trail, one of the nations largest wilderness areas.
