Located within beautiful Louisiana in the United States, Baton Rouge is a great place to visit if you¡¯re looking for something with a rich history and a lot of southern charm. There are many sights to see and activities to enjoy.

The Baton Rouge Zoo is a great place for both children and adults. More than fifteen hundred animals live here, and new attractions are added all the time. The Kids Zoo is available for children and features a playground and a farm animal exhibit. There is also a sidewalk tram, and there are train rides available for everyone. 

There are other fun filled attractions that the kids will enjoy.  The Dixie Landin¡¯ Amusement Theme Park is home to many different rides, games, and other attractions.  If you want to get wet, the Blue Bayou Waterpark is adjacent to Dixie Landin¡¯ and is a great way to cool off during those hot summers.  

If you want to enjoy fine art, the Baton Rouge Gallery is open daily. This museum showcases great contemporary art from many artists throughout the community. Occasionally, there are also spoken word performances and special guest artists.

Louisiana State University houses many of Baton Rouge¡¯s most popular tourist attractions. LSU football games are something that many football fans can¡¯t miss. In addition, the university is home to a number of museums, including LSU Rural Life Museum, and the LSU Art Museum.

Another great museum is the Louisiana Art and Science Museum. This museum provides a variety of learning enrichment, including art exhibits, science exhibits, and exhibits including artifacts from ancient Egypt. Also housed here is the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium, which is one of the best presentation theaters in the world. The planetary presentations shown here are lifelike and thrilling. Five-thousand square feet of educational and exciting exhibits are also located within the planetarium.

The Veterans Memorial and Museum is home to the Louisiana Memorial Plaza, the Fletcher Destroyer, and The USS Kidd, which was also known as the Pirate of the Pacific. This ship was named after Rear Admiral Isaac Campbell Kidd, Sr. and was launched on February 28, 1943.  Visitors to the museum will learn about the destroyer¡¯s unique history and will also get the opportunity to walk its decks.

In addition to these great attractions, there are also a variety of beautiful and historic plantations that you can visit.  When touring these homes, you will learn intriguing stories and the history of the homes and Baton Rouge.  The Louisiana Governor¡¯s Mansion is also available to tour by appointment.   Although it was once called a monstrosity by Mark Twain, Louisiana¡¯s Old State Capitol is also a popular tourist attraction.  The Gothic revival styled building is now a museum that contains many exhibits detailing the rich history of Baton Rouge as well as the state of Louisiana.
