Crystal Mountain, on Crystal Mountain Boulevard, has been rated the seventh ski area in North America by Skiing Magazine. With wonderful views of Mount Rainier and a technological high speed lift system, you have over 2300 acres and 3000 feet of vertical drop. There is terrain for every skill level; a beginner course with a snowboard school, an intermediate level at Forest Queen Express and Green Valley, and an advanced course at Powder Bowl or High Campbell Basin. They also have condos, hotels, and chalet suites for lodging. 

Tacoma Firs Golf Center, on South Tyler Street, has a miniature golf course and a covered heated lighted golf center. It has golf pros who are PGA and LPGA members, so you are assured of getting good tips and it has a pro shop that carries top of the line products. There is a food center called the Tee Line Grill in case you have worked up some hunger while out in the sand traps.  The center is lighted so you can practice at night.

Tacoma Little Theatre, on North I Street, was established in 1918 and has entertaining community theatre. At five plays a season, if one is showing when you visit, you should partake of this delightful theatre. They also offer short run ¡°second stage¡± productions and year round programs for all ages.

The Spar in Old Town, on 2121 North 30th, offers everything from coffee to breakfast; billiards to music. It is Tacoma¡¯s oldest saloon and offers wonderful edibles at fantastic prices.  Come for dinner, or just espresso and dessert. 

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium on North Pearl Street, offers not only polar bears, seahorses, sharks, and beluga whales, but views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains. The zoo also offers an Asian Forest Sanctuary with a multi-acre forest and endangered Asian species. Amenities at the zoo and aquarium include a gift shop, caf¨¦, picnic areas, and visitor services like stroller, umbrella, and wheelchair rentals.

Museum of Glass: International Center for Contemporary Art, on Dock Street, offers up the Hot Shop Amphitheater and its molten glass. It creates exhibitions and art from well known artists. If fine glass blowing and intense specialty art is your forte, the Museum of Glass is your salvation.

Emerald Queen Casino, on Alexander Avenue, has not only hot casino action, but professional boxing, jazz performances, local bands, and even Asian entertainment. Gaming includes over 2,000 video slots, 56 of your favorite table games like craps and roulette, and live action Keno. For those who prefer their gaming smoke-free, there is an ample nonsmoking section.

Fort Nisqually Living History Museum on North Pearl Street is a reconstructed fur trading post. It was built in 1833 and served as a European settlement on Puget Sound. Today, it houses a living history museum with tireless volunteers and historic period costume. Take in a bit of the 19th century with crafts and dialogue.

Sixth Avenue Business District on the Sixth Avenue has provided shopping services since the early 1930¡¯s. It has churches, eateries, mom and pop shops, caf¨¦s, and nightclubs.  Known as ¡°The Ave¡± it is an eclectic find for a lazy afternoon. Don¡¯t miss ambling by the antiques and the cuisine of Sixth Avenue Business District.
