Toledo, Ohio is known by many monikers. Some have always known it as the Glass Capital of the World, others by the Walleye Capital of the World. Most, however, don¡¯t think of Toledo as a vacation or tourism spot, yet there are fun things in Toledo that couples can spend the afternoon or evening doing. From art to jazz, from polar bears to mud hens, there is something for every type of personality. 

Toledo Museum of Art

The Toledo Museum of Art is located on Monroe Street at Scottwood Avenue. It is just off the main business district in Toledo. As a bonus, the University of Toledo Center for Visual Arts is right beside this Museum of Art so you can really spend the afternoon basking in fine art.

Toledo Opera

The Toledo Opera is located on Jefferson Avenue and has been in Toledo for over 41 years now. If you¡¯ve never experienced opera, you should go after an afternoon of museum hopping and get your cultural grove on.

Toledo Zoo

The Toledo Zoo is located on Broadway. For the more free-spirited, fun loving couples, the zoo offers a taste of the wild life. One of the finer zoos among the U.S., the Toledo zoo will have you howling at the moon.

Toledo Botanical Gardens

The Toledo Botanical Gardens is located on Elmer Drive. The Botanical Gardens is home to 64 acres of plant life and art. This tourist spot sees over 200,000 visitors each year, and in one visit you¡¯ll understand why. They are not open from dusk to dawn, but you can see the beauty any time the sun is out.

Toledo Mud Hens baseball team

The Toledo Mud Hens are located on Washington Street. A favorite among sports fans, many will just remember them via ¡°Klinger¡± on the hit TV series MASH. It is a triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, and you can go and watch them at the new Fifth Third Field anytime during baseball season (April-September).

Toledo Jazz Society

The Toledo Jazz Society is located on Adams Street. It has many performances, and incorporates the Toledo Jazz Orchestra concert series, the Jazz in the Garden series at the Botanical Garden, and the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Festival. If you like jazz, or just want a smoky seductive night on the town, I recommend finding the heart of Toledo¡¯s jazz movement.  

Mansion View Bed & Breakfast

The Mansion View B&B is located on Collingwood Boulevard. It is a beautiful Victorian house built in 1887. It has eighteen rooms and is listed on the National Historic Registrar. For a lovely end and bright start to the next day¡¯s festivities, why not cozy up in an old B&B with all the charm and grace of an era long since gone?
