Road rage has become a big problem in the U.S. A lot of people become very upset with other drivers, and unfortunately act on that in negative ways. However, it*s possible to avoid road rage by following a few simple tips.
1. Don*t use the horn too much. Use your horn only if you have to 每 if another driver almost causes an accident, or isn*t going once the light has been green a few seconds. It should be used sparingly, and never because you*re feeling impatient or angry, or made a mistake yourself.
2. Never, ever, &flip the bird.* Rude gestures will often make people very angry, and are unnecessary. No matter how angry you are, don*t make these gestures. If you feel you have to, make them where the other person can*t actually see it.
3. Don*t yell out the car windows. No matter how angry you are, don*t yell at the other driver out your window. It will make them angry and defensive. If you have to yell, make sure your windows are rolled up and no one can hear you.
4. Get out your frustration inside your car. Pound on the steering wheel, complain to your passengers, yell a little bit 每 as long as the other drivers don*t hear you, it won*t matter what you do.
5. Don*t tailgate. Even if someone is going too slow, don*t tailgate them. Some drivers will deliberately drive slower or become angry if you tailgate them, and besides that 每 it*s unsafe. Tail gating could cause an accident if a driver suddenly had to stop or slow down significantly, and that accident would be your fault. Keep that in mind before you tailgate, and maintain a safe following distance.
6. Don*t cut people off. Even if someone just did it to you, or you think they &won*t care*, you never know. Change lanes responsibly and never cut someone off if you can possibly help it. Definitely don*t use it as an offensive tactic because someone made you angry.
7. Use your turn signal. If you*re changing lanes or making a turn, use your turn signal. If you turn without a signal and it causes an accident, it*s your fault. It also tends to make other drivers mad, because they may have to slam on their brakes as a result.
8. Don*t let your frustration show in your driving. Even if you*re really upset, don*t drive too fast, weave in and out of lanes, or make any other offensive driving moves. Drivers tend to feel your impatience and take it negatively.
9. Never threaten other drivers. If an accident does occur, don*t jump out of your car yelling threats and blaming the other driver. An accident has occurred, so deal with it calmly by examining your cars for damage, exchanging information, calling the police, and doing whatever else you need to do. If you get very angry, you can make the other driver defensive, and it could quickly escalate into something neither of you wants to happen.
Make sure you keep yourself in control on the road. Drive defensively, in the correct lanes and at the correct speeds. Follow the rules of the road 每 both spoken and unspoken. If you do, you will avoid road rage.
