When most people of think of Reno, they probably conjure an image something like that of Las Vegas.  Casinos, bright lights, stars, and abundant dinner buffets.  While it is certainly true that Reno does offer gamblers with top-notch casinos, there is much more to the city.

For those who want to get a little more in tune with nature, Reno is home to Galena Creek Park.  The park offers hiking through its trails during the summer months.  In the winter, cross-country skiers come to the park to experience the abundant wintertime wildlife.  Or, if you just want a peaceful walk along the river and a view of the city, then the Truckee River Walk is just for you.

For those who want to see a variety of wildlife, Reno has the Sierra Safari Zoo.  And if you enjoy seeing wildlife on canvas, then a trip to the Western Wildlife Galleries is a necessity.

If being inside away from nature sounds a little more appealing, Reno offers many different museums and educational venues.  The National Automobile Museum gives car enthusiasts the chance to experience over 200 models of automobile.  For the art lover, Reno is home to the Nevada Museum of Art.  And, for those wanting a little something different, the University of Reno Department of Anthropology operates the Anthropology Museum.

Reno is much more than just a city built on gambling.  In fact, the gambling offered in Reno is much more than what many people expect.  For the person who is alone and looking for fun, Reno is just the place.  From being outside and up-close with nature in the summer and winter, to museums, to simply pampering yourself, this city in the desert has it all.
