There are millions of camping spots but finding the perfect one for your next trip can be a little tricky since it really depends greatly upon what type of relaxation you have in mind. Camping where there is a river nearby is a perfect choice. The beauty alone will take your breath away and the refreshing water is just what a camper needs. You have access to swimming, fishing and the tranquil sounds of nature right beside you. Don¡¯t just throw up the tent any old place beside the river, though. Look around for the perfect spot. 

The very river you choose is important. If you¡¯re hoping to catch lots of catfish, for instance, you¡¯ll want to choose a spot that¡¯s known to have plenty. If sunbathing is your wish you¡¯ll probably want a little privacy. If you¡¯re hoping for a nice swimming area do a little investigating to see where the locals swim unless you want something a little more private. Find a nice-looking spot then do a personal check of the water to see that there are no danger zones or large rocks just under the surface. A grassy spot nearby for drying in the sun is a must. 

If you happen to see bear tracks nearby it might be wise to choose a different location. Tracks from other wildlife like raccoons, deer or coyote might mean you¡¯ll be bothered with lots of activity during the night. Of course there will be wildlife in the area but heavy wildlife traffic won¡¯t make for a very relaxing night of camping. 

Find a spot that has a grove of trees nearby. You don¡¯t want it to be a real thick grove of trees unless you¡¯re hunting. If you want sunlight at the camping area the trees mustn¡¯t be too dense. In addition you¡¯ll want a nice grassy area for sunbathing. Find a spot that has plenty of sunshine but trees for shade as well. Look for a place that has a level area for the tents and chairs. For building campfires you¡¯ll need a clearing that is large enough for the fire and some seats. 

Setting up a bathroom at camp is a necessity. The perfect camping spot has everything you need for camping as well as some trees that are close together for setting up a bathroom. Tie sheets or blankets to trees to make a four-sided ¡°room¡± for the porta-potty. Look for a grassy spot with three to four trees that are close together to set up the facilities. 

A small hill where you can set up a wash basin is a handy thing. When the dirty water is dumped it will run downhill rather than standing in a pool at your campsite. If you¡¯re planning on staying awhile think of things like where you¡¯ll hang a clothesline, where you¡¯ll set up the grill, or whether or not it¡¯s a long, downward trek to the river. 

Some hiking or biking trails nearby might be nice. Sometimes there are campgrounds or National Parks nearby where you pay a small nightly or weekly fee to stay and camp, hike, bike, fish and just relax in a clean environment. Public restrooms are often available as well as tours and events.
