Bordered on one side by the Mississippi River and on the other by the Appalachian Mountains, Tennessee is jam packed with festivals, fairs, and celebrations.  The state has a very interesting cultural history including a very rich heritage in music.  

Music and Molasses Festival

Tennessee¡¯s Music and Molasses Festival is held each fall (usually October) at the Tennessee Agricultural Museum in Nashville.  The festival features bluegrass music, molasses (of course), molasses making demonstrations, clogging, storytelling, crafts, farming demonstrations, and lots of history.

Native American Dance Theatre

Tennessee¡¯s Native American Dance Theatre is held every summer (usually June) at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.  The celebration includes tribal songs, dancing, and special guest appearances.  

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

The Tennessee Renaissance Festival is held each year in May just south of Nashville.  The festival tuns 10 days and kicks off with a special School Day for students in early May.  The festival wraps up on Memorial Day weekend.  All aspects of renaissance life in England are exhibited here including music and crafts.

Southern Festival of Books

Tennessee¡¯s Southern Festival of Books is a three-day event held each year on the second weekend in October in downtown Nashville.  This is a free festival that includes more than 200 writers.  Publishers and other related organizations are also in attendance.  Music, poetry, and theatre are performed live along with plenty of food vendors and booksellers.  

Soybean Festival

Tennessee¡¯s annual Soybean Festival is held every September in Martin.  Celebrating agriculture and soybeans this festival features Miss Soybean pageants for all ages, shuffleboard competitions, a parade, live music, a farmer¡¯s breakfast, golf tournament, carnival rides, tractor pull, and quilt show.

Foothills Country Fair

Cleveland, Tennessee¡¯s Foothills Country Fair draws an estimated 20,000 visitors every spring to take part in the carnival rides, live music, crafts, animal shows, food, pageants, and exhibits.

West Tennessee Strawberry Festival

The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival is held every May in Humboldt.  This celebration has been voted ¡°Best Festival in Tennessee¡± and includes a parade, carnival, horse shows, and of course strawberries.  

TACA Craft Fair

The annual TACA Craft Fair held every May in Nashville draws a crowd of 50,000 for crafts from around the state.  Live music and great food round out the weekend.  

Central Railroad Rendezvous

Tennessee¡¯s Central Railroad Rendezvous is held each May in Cookeville.  The festival draws crowds in excess of 10,00 to celebrate the history of the railroad and train locomotion. 

Historic Rugby Spring Festival

Each May thousands flock to Historic Rugby for the Spring Festival which showcases Appalachian and British music, dance, storytelling, and crafts.  Located in central Tennessee.  

June Jubilee

Tennessee¡¯s June Jubilee is held each summer in Dandridge, the state¡¯s second oldest town.  Lots of arts, crafts, food, and live entertainment.  

Arts on the Gap

Tennessee¡¯s Arts on the Gap Festival is held each June in historic Cumberland Gap. The celebration includes arts, crafts, antiques, history, food, and live music.  Nearly 3,000 in attendance.  

Nashville SongWriters Festival

Held each June the Nashville Songwriters Festival is home to over 2000 musicians and songwriters who come together for live music, and writing workshops.  

Freedom Fest

Tennessee¡¯s Freedom Fest is held each July in Alcoa and features lots of family-style activities, entertainment, food, music, and fireworks.  Nearly 25,000 in attendance.  

Grainger County Tomato Festival

World renowned for their tomatoes, each July Grainger County hosts the annual Tomato Festival which includes tomato wars, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and civil war exhibits.  Over 20,000 in attendance.  

National Cornbread Festival

The National Cornbread Festival is held each year in late spring in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.  The festival includes cornbread cook-offs, the cornbread hall of fame, and a 5k race.
