Atlanta is a vibrant city with many fun things to do with your significant other. Whether you like museums, music, or outdoor activities, there's something for every taste.

Piedmont Park, in the heart of Midtown, has events almost year round. In the spring, the Dogwood Festival is held for 3 days. There is an artist's market, live music from both local and nationally known artists, and even a Frisbee contest for dogs. In the summer, movies are shown once a week on the grounds. There are also performances of Shakespeare plays in the summer. Even when there is nothing else going on, Piedmont Park is just fun place to hang around with its broad expanses of lawn and Lake Clara Meer.

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is next to Piedmont Park. It is a wonderful place to visit if you both love gardening. There are thousands of species of plants in the garden in the greenhouses and over the 30 acres of grounds.

Stone Mountain is a park about 15 miles outside the city limits of Atlanta. During the summer the park features concerts and laser shows. The park also hosts several festivals each year, most notably the Yellow Daisy Festival in September.  At anytime of the year when the weather is nice, you can hike the trails around the mountain, climb the mountain, picnic, or ride in the paddleboats.

If you like biking, there is a bike path from the Georgia Tech campus in the city of Atlanta to Stone Mountain. It runs through many scenic neighborhoods.

If music is more your scene, many venues offer concerts. The Fox, an old movie theatre that was saved from destruction in the 1970's, has music concerts throughout the year. The Fox is made to look like an old Moorish palace and is a really fun place for a date. The Tabernacle is an old church converted to a concert venue. Nationally known musicians regularly perform there. If you are on a tight budget, Emory University and Georgia State University have free and low-cost musical events. Atlanta also has a very vibrant local music scene with many small clubs where all sorts of music are played, from rock to hip-hop to blues and jazz. Look in the weekly paper Creative Loafing for up-to-date music listings.

For art lovers, there are many museums and galleries. The largest and best-known museum is the High Museum of Art in Midtown. The High has an extensive collection of 18th century and Impressionist art. It also has a large collection of folk art. If you prefer contempory art, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is the place to go. MOCA GA has two locations, one in Midtown, just down Peachtree Street from the High, and one downtown. There are also many galleries in Atlanta. On the evening of the first Thursday of every month, there is a tour of downtown galleries and other arts venues called First Thursday. The galleries stay open until 9 pm. The High also stays open late one Friday night a month, called Friday Jazz at the High, and there is food and music, as well as tours of the exhibitions. 

If you like theatre, Atlanta has a lot to offer. The Alliance Theatre is the largest theatre in the city, putting on both contemporary plays and revivals. The Shakespeare Tavern features, as you would expect, plays by Shakespeare. There are also small to midsize theatre companies, such as 7 Stages, that perform avant-garde and experimental plays.

Don't forget the many festivals held in Atlanta. Besides the Yellow Daisy and the Dogwood festivals, there are festivals held in many neighborhoods in the spring and the fall. Most feature arts and crafts, food, live music, and sometimes tours of homes. They are a great way to explore different neighborhoods. The Virginia-Highlands and Inman Park neighborhoods both hold their festivals in the spring and their festivals are two of the best in the city.
