Walt Disney World Resort is a huge complex of entertainment attractions, and it takes at least a week to truly experience everything it has to offer. But if you find yourself in Orlando with only one day to spare, you can put together an itinerary that will suit your needs. What to do in Disneyworld if you have only one day varies depending on your situation. Families with young children should stick to the Magic Kingdom, but older kids and adults may have just as much fun skipping it and going to one of the other parks.

The Magic Kingdom is the centerpiece of Walt Disney World, but it is geared more towards younger children. Start out early at the Once Upon a Time Character Breakfast so your little ones can meet their favorite characters. There will be opportunites throughout the park to meet the characters, but the breakfast will offer the highest concentration of characters with minimal competition for photo opportunities. There are plenty of rides here for younger children, like Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Cinderella¡¯s Golden Carousel. But there are also a couple of good rides for the more adventure-minded. Try Space Mountain in Tomorrowland for a pitch-black thrill ride or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for a wild ride on a runaway train. Make sure to stop at Cinderella¡¯s castle, the Magic Kingdom¡¯s most famous landmark. Other classic Magic Kingdom rides are the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, and It¡¯s a Small World. 

Older kids and teenagers may be bored by the kiddie rides in the Magic Kingdom. For them, Disney-MGM Studios will be an exciting alternative. Science fiction fans will love Star Tours, a Star Wars adventure through space accompanied by an R2D2-esque droid. The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular will satisfy aspiring stuntmen with live stunts and real explosions. For something a little spookier, visit the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, where you¡¯ll take an elevator ride you¡¯ll never forget. Television and Movie buffs will enojoy getting a look at real soundstages and backlots from their favorite shows on the Studios Backlot Tour and The Great Movie Ride. You don¡¯t have to remember Aerosmith to enjoy the Rock ¡®n¡¯ Roller Coaster starring the band. Smaller children will love the Muppet Vision 3-D movie and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie set replica.

If thrill rides and explosions aren¡¯t your thing, head to Epcot for a more relaxing experience. Pick up an authentic-tasting French paster for breakfast before toruing the World Showcase, a collection of pavillions showcasing the cultures and lifestyles of eleven different countries. Grab a bite for lunch at one of the area¡¯s ethnic restaurants before heading over to Futureworld on the other side of the park. In Futureworld, science and technology is the main focus, with thrill rides like Test Track and gentler attractions, like The Living Seas. Spaceship Earth, inside Epcot¡¯s trademark geosphere is a fascinating tour through the history of human communication. Smaller kids will appreciate Journey Into Imagination with Figment, an imaginative attraction featuring a playful dragon host.
