St. Anne¡¯s Church is also known as Shandon Church and it is a remarkable place to visit. If you climb to the belfry, you can also play the eight church bells. Located within Cobh, County Cork, Ireland is St. Colman¡¯s Cathedral. The magnificence and splendor of this beautiful church will wow you upon arrival. It is also used daily for worship and the cathedral contains a forty-seven bell Carillon, which is the largest in Ireland.
Located just outside Cork is Blarney Village. Located here is the Blarney Castle. This castle is an interesting and mystical place that attracts many visitors each year. Built in the eleventh century as a hunting lodge, it later became a stone castle, around 1210. The most famous part of the castle is the Blarney Stone. Located high on battlements of the castle, the one thing that visitors want to do is kiss the Blarney Stone. It has long been believed that kissing the stone will bestow upon one the gift of eloquence, also known as ¡°the gift of the gab.¡±
One of the most popular places in Ireland is Dublin. Dublin Castle if the perfect place to visit if you want to learn more about Irish history. The grand castle is located within historic Dublin and has a very long and rich past, from its beginning in the early 13th century. It has also survived the Irish Civil War and several other changes in history. A visit to this castle will astound and delight you.
St. Patrick¡¯s Cathedral is also located in Dublin and also has a very interesting past. The beautifully structured church is the location of a holy well that St. Patrick used for baptisms. It is still in great condition today, as well. Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver¡¯s Travels, was Dean of the cathedral in the eighteenth century. His grave is located within the entrance.
Another beautiful place to enjoy while visiting Ireland would be The Cliffs of Moher. Located in County Clare, the Cliffs offer a spectacular view. Walking along the gorgeous Cliffs will provide you with a real sense of tranquility. There¡¯s also a tourist center and a souvenir shop available if you want to take home a reminder of your visit.
One of the most loved tourist attractions is the Ring of Kerry, which is 110 miles, along the Iveragh Peninsula. Driving through the Ring will take you through some of the most beautiful and historic places in all of Ireland, including several small towns. From August 10th to August 12th is the annual Puck Fair, which is held in the beautiful city of Killorglin.
