Delaware has enough miles of beaches to please the whole family. Rehoboth Beach offers exciting water sports such as kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and even bird watching cruises. Rehoboth¡¯s mile long boardwalk, built in 1873, is a popular attraction. Tax-free outlet stores are another family favorite in Rehoboth.

Dewey Beach, also a popular place for water sports, boasts natural dunes and beautiful beaches. 

Fenwick Island, a state park, covers 3 miles of the coast along the Atlantic Ocean. There are attractions here for visitors of all ages, including the Fenwick Lighthouse, fishing, biking, sailing and beautiful scenery.

Delaware is a shopper¡¯s dream, with tax-free shopping all year. Visitors to Delaware will want to stop by Bargain Bill¡¯s, the largest flea market on the Eastern shore. Bargain Bill¡¯s covers about 12 acres of land, and sells new and pre-owned items from over 200 vendors. Delaware¡¯s many malls contain a variety of shops that will please any child. Chuck E. Cheese, movie theaters and food courts are easy to find. 

        For all of the animal lovers, Delaware offers a number of things to do. Children of all ages will love the Brandywine Zoo, which is home to about 150 animals. Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1937, is another attraction that families will enjoy. The Edward H. McCabe Nature Preserve consists of 143 acres of plants and animals, including over 100 different species of birds. 

For an educational vacation, Delaware offers many historical attractions. The Cape May-Lewes Ferry is a 70-minute ferry ride that travels between Lewes, Delaware and Cape May, New Jersey. The ferry, which began carrying passengers in 1964, carries vehicles as well as passengers on foot. 

Cooch¡¯s Bridge is another historical attraction that children will enjoy. Cooch¡¯s Bridge is the site of the only Revolutionary War battle fought in the state of Delaware. 

Fort Delaware State Park is an important Civil War site. This fort, one of the state¡¯s first state parks, dates back as far as1859. It once housed Confederate prisoners during the Civil War. A short, ? mile ferry ride takes you to the fort. Children will watch history come to life with blacksmiths, live gunpowder charges and many exhibits that feature the past. 

Children will enjoy learning at The Delaware Archeology Museum. The museum has a simulated pit in which visitors can learn more about archeology and the evacuation process. The museum contains items that date back over 12,000 years. 

If digging in the dirt doesn¡¯t appeal to your family, perhaps The Delaware History Museum will be a big hit. The museum hosts many hands-on activities to teach the visitor about the history of Delaware, the first state.  

The Delaware Toy and Miniature Museum is a spot that shouldn¡¯t be missed if you are traveling with children. Modern and antique dollhouses, trains and other toys from Europe and America will delight young and old travelers, young and old. 

Another museum that families enjoy is the DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum. Discover Delaware¡¯s maritime history here, with exhibits of gold coins, weapons, dishes, and many other fascinating artifacts.

For a day of pure fun, visit Funland. The amusement park has rides, an arcade and midway games. Much of the park is covered, so don¡¯t let bad weather stop you from visiting! Delaware is also home to Jungle Jim¡¯s Adventure World. Here, families can enjoy activities such as bumper boats, go-karts, miniature golf, a waterslide and much more. There are also several water parks in Delaware for warm weather travelers. 

Ice skating is a popular sport in Delaware, and the state contains several ice rinks. Many national and Olympic level skaters have trained at various rinks in Delaware. Many rinks are open to the public year round.
