Most of the beaches are located on the southern coast of the island where the water is calm. The waters on the northern coast are very rough and the beaches are rocky. Some of the beaches have modern facilities, restaurants, and shops while most are just simple beaches. Most of the beaches are good for scuba diving and snorkeling. Some of the most popular beaches are:
? Playa Knip has two beaches with beautiful white sand, bathhouses, snack bars, perfect for swimming. The two beaches are Big Knip and Little Knip.
? Cas Abou is a white-sand beach with bright blue water. Snorkelers, swimmers, and sunbathers love this beach with rest rooms, showers, and a snack bar.
? Barbara Beach is a kid-friendly beach with beautiful waters on the east side of the island offering showers, changing rooms, and a snack bar.
? Porto Mari has calm clear waters and beautiful white sand. It is perfect for swimming or just relaxing in the sun. There is a restaurant, dive shop, and dock.
? Westpunt consists of two areas, Playa Forti and Playa Kalki. In the morning, you will find abundant shade. These two beaches do not have much sand but there are rock ledges you can sit on. There is a restaurant, bar, and dive shop.
? Playa Lagun is a beautiful cove with gray colored cliffs. Here you can take a canoe ride, enjoy swimming, take diving lessons, and snorkel. There is a dive shop on the beach.
? Sea Aquarium Beach is a 1,600-foot sandy beach offering something for all ages. You will find security guards, restaurants, bars, boutiques, snack bars, a sports center, shelters, rest rooms, showers, and palm trees. seaside bars and restaurants, a water-sports center, boutiques, a snack bar, thatched shelters, palm trees, rest rooms, showers, and security patrols.
Besides the main attraction of diving and snorkeling, you can do a lot of sightseeing on Curacao. The Sea aquarium displays many fish and sea-life. There is also an under water observatory.
Christoffel Park is a beautiful place to visit consisting of three former plantations. You will take a 20-mile drive one way through the beautiful fauna and flora viewing divi divi trees, exotic flowers, and prickly pear cactus. The park is full of wildlife such as rabbits, donkeys, iguanas, birds, and whitetail Curacao deer. The park offers full moon walks, slide and video shows, excursions into caves, and live shows featuring birds and animals.
Near Christoffel Park is Boca Tabla, which is one of Curacao¡¯s most beautiful spots. This rocky area created by the waves of the sea does not look like any other area of Curacao.
Landhouses are interesting spots to visit because of their history and architecture. On Curacao, they date back to the 17th and 18th century. During this time plantations and slavery was abundant on the island. There are 70 landhouses all of Dutch architecture. Many landhouses have been restored and opened to the public offering displays of antique furniture and household items. Some of the more popular ones are:

Curacao is home of the oldest Synagogue in the Western World. They also have a very old Jewish cemetery and an ostrich farm. The Hato Caves will give you a wonderful geological lesson on Curacao. These caves are limestone and open to the public. If you visit them, you will see shells, corals, stalagmites, stalactites, flowstone, dripstone, and lime ribs.
The average temperature of Curacao is 82 degrees F. Curacao is dry in comparison to the other islands.
