Corpus Christi owes its generally pleasant weather to its ocean-side location and its rich history to being an important port since it was established. The promenade by the ocean and the Arts and Museum District are major attraction for visitors by day and there is a vibrant nightlife to enjoy as well. There are plenty of restaurants with varied dining options at all hours and for all meals. 

The Municipal Marina is an attraction that most other cities cannot offer. Meant to be a safe haven for ocean-going craft on their way to Mexico, the area has a relaxed and elegant ambience. Strict rules help keep the environs clean for everyone to enjoy. Summer may witness one or more hurricanes or a tornado. The Marina authorities are sanguine and offer early warning, boat securing and evacuation resources. 

The Padre Island National Seashore stands apart from the continent¡¯s vanishing barrier islands. This spectacular and pristine expanse of almost 150 thousand acres is the world¡¯s longest barrier island. This natural splendor is a special attraction of Corpus Christi and great credit is due to the local people and regulators for its protection. The city beach is also kept well and is free of cars. It is a great place to relax and take in the expanse of water and the friendly sun. 

The Museum of Science and History offers a comprehensive perspective of the natural history and wealth of Texas. It is educative in an entertaining way for casual visitors and endowed to meet the research needs of the most assiduous scholar. It also serves as the State¡¯s repository of marine archeology.

The Heritage Park has a wealth of old buildings and tangible records of the city¡¯s past. The Multi-Cultural Center in the Park is sited in Galvan House, one of the most splendid expressions of early 20th century architecture. It hosts shows and performances throughout the year and celebrates the arts and crafts of Texas. The Lytton Memorial Rose Garden is also part of the Heritage Park. 

The City administration arranges an annual festival of the Arts. This is often during early spring. A large number of organizations take part in this gala event and it is truly a feast for the senses as well as an expose of the cultural wealth and diversity of both Corpus Christi and all of Texas. 

The USS Lexington serves as a floating museum and also as a symbol of national pride. The ship has special attractions for groups of children, teaching them about naval life and even allowing them to spend a night aboard. Visitors can tour all parts of the enormous structure if they are able to negotiate the steep paths between various levels. A video tour is available at street level as well. The museum is a tribute to the best traditions of the US Navy.

The State Aquarium is a veritable marine wonderland with awesome exhibits and encyclopedic references of the ocean and of major river systems. The aquatic life of the Gulf of Mexico is naturally well represented here. The exhibits are designed and arranged to fascinate young and old alike. The facilities are very well laid out, spread over 3 levels. A busy calendar of events uses the exhibits and facilities to promote conservation and awareness of our ocean resources.   

The Asian Cultures Museum and Educational Center¡¯s original collection was inspired by an English teacher in Japan. It has now expanded to cover other countries from the Pacific Ocean area and has treasures from the Indian sub-continent as well. The museum holds regular events and renders yeoman service in building understanding and appreciation of Oriental civilizations. The South Texas Institute for the Arts is a similar body that focuses of the art and culture of Texas. It is a rich tribute to the multiple roots of Corpus Christi¡¯s origins. 

The city¡¯s botanical gardens form a relaxing backdrop for a hectic schedule of visits to the city¡¯s many attractions for visitors. Two thousand five hundred orchid varieties, myriads of other flowers, woods and wetlands provide idyllic surroundings for a peaceful tryst with wild birds and other forms of nature.  

Corpus Christi is not just about tourism and fun. The Texas A&M University and the Del Mar College are exemplary centers of higher education and the city is a well-organized and bustling center of commerce and industry as well. Entrepreneurs can look forward to incentives and assistance to establish new ventures in this city of many parts.
