Winston Churchill called Cincinnati the most civilized American city between the two coasts. Cincinnati still carries that civilized tradition with a variety of romantic activities and attractions coupled with beautiful vistas from the seven hills overlooking the Ohio River. Cincinnati offers plenty of romantic spots for those traveling to this old German town in the heart of the Midwest. 

Nothing sparks romance more than seeing a passionate play or opera or listening to the sounds of a first-class symphony. Cincinnati is certainly not lacking in quality culture. The arts abound in Cincinnati. The Aronoff Center downtown offers a variety of shows and consistently brings Broadway to Ohio. The Cincinnati ballet also performs at the Aronoff Center and portrays the classic Nutcracker each holiday season.  The Cincinnati symphony orchestra has produced several famous conductors and is a delight to see outside at Riverbend in the summers. A picnic on the grass listening to classical music performed by the pops, overlooking the Ohio River, is certainly a romantic way to spend an evening.  The Playhouse in the Park is a regional theater Tony Award winner and is set in scenic, hip Mount Adams. The Playhouse offers trendy, diverse plays and the neighborhood is fun to explore with its San Francisco feel, little alleys, and public stairways. Mount Adams offers beautiful river and city views and romantic hideaways to steal some kisses. 

Museums can be a romantic way to spark conversation and get your intellectual juices flowing. The Cincinnati History Museum is located at the old train station, Union Terminal. They house an omnimax theater which provides a good excuse to relax together in the dark for an hour seeing some amazing sights on the screen all around you.  The new contemporary arts center downtown is a fascinating piece of architecture to visit. It has some sexual artwork displayed that could generate some interesting, racy conversation. The Taft Museum of Art is located in a classic, Federal-style home with diverse displays ranging from old European pieces such as Rembrandts to Asian pieces such as Chinese ceramics. The traditional Cincinnati Art Museum with its impressive Picassos, Monets, and Van Goghs is located near Mount Adams and the Playhouse, in Eden Park.

Nothing is more romantic, or a better value, than a walk in a park. Parks are a plenty in Cincinnati; 138 of them cover over 5,000 acres of land. Eden Park is Cincinnati¡¯s own Garden of Eden and was established back in 1859.  The Krohn Conservatory is located in historic Eden Park. It is one of the country¡¯s largest indoor greenhouses with over 5,000 various plants as well as seasonal flower shows. Eden Park houses the Playhouse, the Conservatory, is next to Mount Adams shops and restaurants, and can make for an easy day of romance. There is a lake to view, a gazebo to sit and picnic, and sometimes outdoor concerts at the pavilion. Ault Park is another park on a hill in Cincinnati with a spectacular view of the Little Miami River. It is home to a large formal garden and arboretum as well as natural hillside trails and a variety of terrain to discover.  Devou Park sits on the top of a hill in Northern Kentucky with many fabulous views of the Cincinnati skyline and the Ohio River. The beauty of Devou Park makes it a popular wedding location. Mount Airy forest is the largest municipal forest in the country. 

The many hills and river settings make it easy for restaurants in Cincinnati to offer romantic vistas. The Primavista is a favorite upscale Italian dining choice with breathtaking views of the city and the river from Price Hill in the west side of town. The Celestial sits on top of Mount Adams and offers river and city views as well as a romantic atmosphere with a cozy fireplace and French cuisine. Sometimes romance is better suited for the morning and a lovely brunch can be found as Grand Finale in old Glendale. The antique furnishings and the feel of being in a garden are second only the high-quality crepes and champagne that is absolutely delicious. 

After a busy day of arts, culture, walking, shopping and dining, you need a romantic place to lay your head. Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky offer plenty of romantic luxury hotels. Vernon Manor is located two and a half miles north of downtown and is a historic hotel with themed rooms, spa treatments, and jacuzzi suites. The Cincinnatian is the city¡¯s most exclusive hotel with Roman bathtubs, terry robes and a first class restaurant and bar. Romantic weekend packages are available from both of these hotels. 

Aside from culture, arts and dining, Cincinnati has attractions indicative of large cities. The Bengals and Reds, Cincinnati¡¯s professional football and baseball teams play ball at two new stadiums. You can cheer from the stands as you eat traditional Cincinnati chili and enjoy Ohio River views and breezes. Coney Island is an old amusement park which has become a popular picnicking destination. It¡¯s situated near Riverbend with the largest recirculating swimming pool in the world, rides, and miniature golf. Cincinnati¡¯s Zoo and Botanical garden, the country¡¯s second oldest zoo, is another romantic attraction with various exhibits and occasional concerts. 

Cincinnati is a special city with its historic architecture, diverse landscape, and scenic views. It¡¯s a town where it is easy for a couple to find a romantic spot to call their own.
