Montego Bay has been named one of the top tourist locations in Jamaica.  It is the site of the main airport for the island.  Even if your accommodations aren't within the city, at some point you will probably pass through.  Why not take some time to explore the many attractions offered in Montego Bay?  

If your travel dates to Jamaica are scheduled for late July, you may have the opportunity to attend the annual Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest.  Local and international talents are showcased.  The festival attracts people from all over the world who come to enjoy the cool vibes of the music and nonstop parties during the weeklong celebration.  Performances are held throughout the city.

Doctor's Cave Bathing Club is located in the middle of the Hip Strip and remains one of the most popular beaches in Montego Bay.  In the early 1920's, a British physician visited the beach and later published an article that declaring that the waters had "curative powers."  Doctor's Cave quickly attracted foreigners interested in experiencing the benefits of the healing waters.  Today visitors are invited to relax and unwind in the therapeutic waters.  A beach bar and grill, cyber cafe, gift shops, changing rooms, and showers are also onsite.  A newly created clubhouse is also at this location for members of Doctor's Cove Bathing Club.

One of the most popular historical sights close to Montego Bay is the Rose Hall Great House.  Guided tours are available of this restored plantation home that many believe to be haunted by the White Witch of Rose Hall, Annie Palmer.  Greenwood Great House is another plantation home that offers guided tours.  This plantation is located on the North Coast Highway near Rose Hall.  Sir Richard Barrett, cousin of the famous English poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, built the Greenwood estate in the early eighteenth century.  Some claim that the Greenwood House holds the largest collection of antiques and musical instruments in the Western Hemisphere.

If you are a golfer, you will be impressed with Montego Bay¡¯s selection of outstanding courses.  The Half Moon Golf Club boasts an 18-hole course where the Red Stripe Pro Am is hosted.  Links-style golf is the attraction of another 18-hole course called the Ironshore.  The Tryall is an official PGA tour course where many tournaments are held.  The Tryall is considered the best course in the Caribbean.  The Wyndham Rose Hall 18-hole course is located on the grounds of the historic Rose Hall great house.  The newest course near Montego Bay is the White Witch course that is part of the Ritz-Carlton Spa and Golf Resort.  This golfing attraction offers a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea from 16 of its 18 holes.

Jamaica¡¯s national hero and famed reggae superstar Bob Marley is immortalized by the Bob Marley Experience.  What is the experience you wonder?  A 68-seat theatre located at the Half Moon Shopping Village presents a multi media presentation about the life and work of Marley. There is a large gift shop filled with Bob Marley memorabilia.  The shop claims to have the largest collection of Marley gifts in the Caribbean.

There is an endless choice of cuisine to please all tastes and budgets.  A new martini, blues, and jazz bar recently opened in the midst of the hip strip, Gloucester Avenue.  Blues Beat is a restaurant, bar, and lounge that offers Asian and Caribbean cuisine.  Live musical entertainment is provided nightly.  Restaurants that are established favorites along the hotel strip are the Pelican, Wexford Grill, Marguerite's and the Greenhouse.  The Sea Shell is a great place for Sushi-lovers.
