When you think of Palm Beach, Florida, you probably think of miles and miles of beaches that are covered with pure white sand. You can rent sailboats, kayaks, surfboards, and scuba diving gear to take advantage of the beautifully clear, salty water of the Atlantic Ocean. 

While Palm Beach does have its share of beaches, there's more to this southern city than having fun in the sun and in the water. 

In West Palm Beach, for example, you can take your family to visit the Palm Beach Zoo in Dreher Park. This twenty-three-acre zoo houses more than four hundred animals. There are Red Kangaroo, striped Bengal Tigers, small Mouse Deer, Panthers, Alligators, Cranes, Komodo Dragons, and many more!  

You can also enjoy some fun in the sun at the National Croquet Center. This center is the headquarters for the United States Croquet Association. It has ten acres of green lawns to play croquet on. There's a museum that you and your family can enjoy too.  

If you need to purchase equipment, you can visit their Pro shop, and if you get hungry, there's a cafe with plenty of food and drinks.  

Or if you want to visit a nature preserve, you can drive your vehicle through the wild Lion Country Safari. You'll start out on a road that will take you eight miles through the safari. On your journey, you'll see lions, antelopes, chimps, giraffes, and plenty of other wild animals. 

There are also exhibits such as the Kalahari and the Gir Forest. For your safety, you'll need to wind the windows on your vehicle up. 

If you're looking for culture, the The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in southern Florida has entertained tourists and visitors since 1977. These gardens offer Japanese Art, tea ceremonies in a real life tea house, and celebrations of Japanese festivals. 

The museum boasts a collection of five thousand Japanese art pieces and artifacts, and much more!

Looking for another attraction that you can join in on? Lovers of bluegrass music can visit the John D. MacArthur State Park on the third Sunday of every month to join in on a jam! Twelve times a year, bluegrass pickers get together in this park for a rousing, informal Bluegrass Jam! 

The John D. MacArthur State Park offers a beautiful beach, a nature center and an estuary. Everyone is welcome, and there is no admission charge.
