Trinidad is the home to many beautiful birds, making this the perfect spot for the birdwatcher. Several areas here offer birding opportunities; these areas are the Asa Wright Nature Center in Arima, Piarco Water Treatment Plant in Piarco Trinidad, and Arena Forest Reserve in the central lowlands. Wallerfield in North-central Trinidad, Manzarilla Beach/ Mangrove Swamp in East Trinidad, Nariva Swamp in East Trinidad, Blanchisseuse on the Caribbean Sea, Aripo Valley, Caroni Swamp and Trincity Sewer Ponds in Eastern Trinidad are also excellent areas for birdwatching. 

Most birdwatchers take the advantage given them by staying at the Asa Wright Nature Center located in Arima. At this location, birdwatchers can expect to see Cocoa and Bare-eyed Thrushes, Rufous-breasted and House Wrens, Bananaquits, White-necked Jacobins, White-chested Emerald and Copper-rumped Hummingbirds and Great Kiskadees.  Tropical Mockingbirds, Greyish Saltators, Ruddy Ground and Grey-fronted Doves, Shiny Cowbirds, Violaceous Euphonias, Palm, White-lined, Swallow and Silver-beaked Tanagers, Green, Purple and Redlegged Honeycreepers, Chestnut and Golden-olive Woodpeckers, Blue-crowned Motmots, Olive-sided Flycatchers, Channel-billed Toucans, Crested Oropendolas, as well as White hawks are also found here. Other birds found here are Violaceous Trogon, Lilac-tailed Parrotlet, Great Antshrike, Plain-brown Woodcreepers, Yellow Orioles, Piratic, Streaked and Boat-billed Flycatchers, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls, Double-toothed Kites, Common Potoos, Tropical Parulas, Black-throated Mangos, Euler¡¯s Flycatchers, collared Trogons, White-bearded Manakins. Bearded Bellbirds, Black-tailed Tityras, White-shouldered Tanagers, Northern Waterthrushes, Red-crowned Ant-Tanagers, Tufted Coquettes, Blue-chinned Sapphires, White-flanked Antwrens, Buff-throated Woodcreepers and Oilbirds, 

Piarco Water Treatment Plant located in Piarco, Trinidad is the locations for seeing Least Grebes, Purple Gallinules and the Common Moorhen.

Arena Forest Reserve and Wallerfield, located in the central lowlands  are home to Sulphury Flycatchers, Golden-throated Greenlets, Streak-headed Woodcreepers, Yellow-rumped Caciques, Rufous-browed Peppershrikes, Yellow-bellied Elaenia, Savanna Hawks, Greater Ani, Blue-black Grassquits, Southern Rough-winged Swallows, Ruby-topaz Hummingbirds, Black-crested Antshrikes, (night) Moriche Orioles, Yellow-headed Caracaras, Green-rumped Parrotlets, White-tailed Nightjar, Common Pauraque, Tropical Screech-Owl and Common Potoo, 

Manzarilla Beach/ Mangrove Swamp in East Trinidad are home to Brown Pelicans, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Ospreys, Common Black-hawks, Savanna Hawks, Yellow-headed Caracara, Limpkin, Semipalmated Plover, Sanderling, Royal Tern, Black-crested Antshrike, Silver Antbird, Brown-crested Flycatcher and Gray-breasted Martin.

East coast, the Nariva swamp and Waterloo areas are excellent locations to find Anhingas, Pearl Kites, Common Back-Hawks, American Purple Gallinules, Masked Yellowthroats, White-headed Marsh-Tyrants, Grey Kingbirds, Blue-and-White Swallows, Yellow-hooded Blackbirds, Pinnated Bitterns, Red-bellied Macaws, Yellow-crowned Parrots, Least, Western and Spotted Sandpipers, Southern Lapwings, Black-bellied and Semipalmated Plovers.  Whimbrel Knots, Willets, Striated, Little Blue and Tricoloured Herons, Yellow-crowned Night-Herons, Great and Snowy Egrets, Laughing Gulls, Royal, Yellow-billed and Large-billed Terns, Black Skimmers, Ospreys, and Neotropic Cormorant are also found here.

The Blanchisseuse area and the thickly forested Northern Range of Trinidad offers Plumbeous Kites, White-tailed Trogons, Tropical Pewees, Kingbirds, Southern Beardless-Tyrannulets, Bay-headed Tanagers, Lineated Woodpeckers, Golden-headed Manakins, White-bellied Antbirds, Carib Grackles, Brown Pelicans, Yellow-breasted flycatchers, Turquoise Tanager, Orange-winged Parrots and Smooth-billed Anis.

Aripo and the savanna habitat are also good locations for Grassland Yellow Finch, Grey-headed Kites, Grey-breasted Martins, Fork-tailed Palm-Swift, Red-breasted Blackbirds, Wattled Jacanas, Yellow-chinned Spinetails, Pied Water-Tyrants, Solitary Sandpipers and Black Vultures.

Caroni Swamp is home to Red-capped Cardinals, Bicoloured Conebills, Green-throated Mango (hummingbird), Short-billed Dowitchers, and Spectacled Caimans

Trincity Sewer Ponds also is an interesting spot to find Moorhens, Little Egrets, Barn Swallows, Least Grebe, White-cheeked Pintail, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Royal, Sandwich and Cayenne Terns and Laughing Gulls.
