When the time comes for you to plan your family vacation, the preparations can sometimes be a bit stressful.  Where to go?  Are there attractions that are suitable for children?  First things first.  If you haven＊t yet chosen your vacation destination, consider all that Montana has to offer.  The Big Sky State has more than just beautiful scenery 每 there＊s a great deal that＊s available for visitors who are looking for wholesome family fun.  Here are a few suggestions for tourist spots that your entire family will enjoy.

Billings, Montana is host to a wonderful children＊s attraction:  Zoo Montana.  With its focus on creatures of a temperate climate, this beautiful facility has a wide variety of exhibits, events, gardens, trails and activities that make this the perfect tourist attraction for families with kids of all ages.  Among the many inhabitants, you＊ll visit with a Red Panda, Siberian Tiger, Sika Deer, Western Screech Owl, North American River Otter and many more.  Special events include concerts, family photography opportunities and live music, to name a few.  There are a number of guided tours available and, for the kids, there＊s Discovery Center 每 with a series of interactive activities that help children learn about plants and animals.  Boasting three breathtaking gardens and scenic trails, there are as many points of interest for the adults as there are for the youngsters.  A concession area is available for those times when a bit of refreshment is in order.

Kids 每 especially the young ones 每 just love to ride the carousel.  If this is the case in your household, then it＊s worth a trip to A Carousel for Missoula, located in Missoula, Montana.  Located within the boundaries of Caras Park, this spectacular amusement ride is the pride of local residents.  Each of the 38 carousel ponies has been handmade and painted, with no two alike.  In addition, these magnificent ponies have all been named.  Children will love the opportunity for a ride on Leo the Lionheart, Columbia Belle, Midnight Rose, Cherished Angel, Moonlight, Sir Franklin and their colorful brothers and sisters.  A Carousel for Missoula is also home to the country＊s largest band organ that＊s continuously in use.  The organ＊s presentation is sure to delight the kids, with its fairytale design that includes cliffs, a castle and flying dragons.  Dragon Hollow 每 a children＊s play area 每 is constructed in the form of a giant three-headed dragon with multiple slides, areas for bouncing, a maze and an area for tots.  A gift shop is also on the premises, carrying a variety of merchandise, such as carousel collectibles, local artwork, candy, games and more.  This is a great place to take the children for an ※old-fashioned§ day of fun.

The Children＊s Museum of Montana 每 located in Great Falls 每 is a wonderful interactive facility designed to spark children＊s imaginations.  Youngsters will have the opportunity to try their hands at archeology in The Big Dig, crawl through colorful tubing in Exploration Station, learn about banking at The Kidtown Credit Union and journey through the mazes of Amazing Magnets, along with a variety of other activities.  In addition, there are a number of special events which include programs such as the museum＊s Annual Festival 每 filled with puppet shows, clowns, magic shows and much more.  During the summer, special programs are offered by the museum on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. through 4 p.m., focusing in the areas of science, math and cultural exploration.  Since this is an interactive facility, children are encouraged to touch everything they see during their visit.  All in all, The Children＊s Museum of Montana will make an excellent addition to your vacation itinerary.

Big Timber, Montana is home to Big Timber Water Slide 每 a family waterpark that offers plenty of fun, excitement and lots of splashing.  For the more daring among us, there＊s Old Faceful, Suicide Slide and the Zipper Slide.  Other water amusements include The Typhoon, The Hurricane, Raging Rapids, The Moat and Bodacious Bucket.  The youngest members of the family will enjoy the Frog Slide, The Munchkin Slide and Tadpole Pool.  Picnic areas are also in the vicinity, so pack up a picnic basket and spend the day at this fun-filled waterpark.  Additional family entertainment is provided through traditional games, such as volleyball and horseshoes.  The park is open seven days a week, from the end of May through Labor Day.  The only feature that detracts from this attraction is the Spectator＊s Fee 每 if you＊re not into swimming or water-related activities and you＊re just along to supervise the youngsters, the park charges a fee for your mere presence, even though you＊re not taking advantage of the facilities.

The People＊s Center, in Pablo, Montana is the site of spectacular Native American Pow Wows.  With the aid of a Native American guide, you and your family will experience the beauty, history and excitement of a variety of dances and their significance to the tribes.  Since the biggest, most elaborate Pow Wows are presented during the summer months, planning a visit during the warm weather is the ideal time to take part in this experience.  Arts and crafts, as well as a variety of games are also offered during this three-hour celebration.  The People＊s Center also offers the Traditional Encampment 每 visitors have the opportunity to spend a couple of nights in a tipi next to scenic Flathead Lake.  You＊ll learn how to set up camp and hear the histories of the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d＊Oreille as you sit around the campfire.  The various programs at the People＊s Center will provide your children with cherished memories, as they live out their dreams in this truly unique environment.

From the beginning of July through September, Yellowstone Llamas of Bozeman, Montana, will take you on guided llama hikes into Yellowstone Park and the Rocky Mountains.  Gourmet trips are available 每 lasting a number of days per trip 每 for those who are interested in a full-scale adventure.  Most trips are appropriate for adults and children of all ages, and many locations offer fishing in nearby lakes.  The llamas are pack animals, accompanying the group in order to relieve the burden of carrying tents and heavy supply packs, and can be led by anyone in the group after a few minutes＊ worth of instruction by the guide.  Those who prefer to book a gourmet tour will enjoy exquisite entrees, fresh salad and vegetables, home-baked bread and delectable desserts 每 topped off by a chilled bottle of wine.  Whatever your preferences are regarding the length of trip or area of exploration, Yellowstone Llamas will have an exciting package that＊s just right for you and your family.  Be sure to bring clothing and shoes that are appropriate for hiking and the particular weather conditions in the Yellowstone area at the time of your departure.
