Moody Gardens is a wonderful place to bring the family for an experience they will not soon forget. Within Moody Gardens are two other pyramids, a spa, hotel, pool, and beach. The Aquarium Pyramid is a beautiful blue glass more than 12-stories high. Built on two levels you are able to view the beautiful exhibits from below the water¡¯s surface or above it. The Rainforest Pyramid gives you opportunity to discover the beauty of this 10-story pyramid where tropical fish, mammals, birds, and exotic plants simulate the actual rainforests of Asia, Africa, and America. Science¡¯s greatest mysteries can be discovered at the Discovery Pyramid and the most modern technology can take you on a thrilling ride like never before at the Ridefilm Theater. This simulation 18-passenger ride is one that will surround you with sound and lifelike thrills. If you are still wanting more excitement then the IMAX 3D Theater awaits you. This theater is the first one in North American to use IMAX 3D technology. Come in, sit down, put on your 3-D glasses and become a part of the high-octane action. The 3-D images are projected onto a six-story screen. Once you have had all the excitement you can handle walk on over to the beautiful Palm Beach with its soft white sand, beautiful waterfalls, crystal-clear lagoons, and striking scenery. Moody Gardens has something for everyone from volleyball, to paddleboats, and for the kids the Octopus slide and Yellow Submarine. The submarine has a dive horn, water gun, periscope, and more. Once done with all the activities, which will take, you more than a couple days to experience be sure to visit the gift shop.
Treasure Island Tour Train is a fantastic hour and a half tour covering 17 miles. The train takes you around both Old and New Galveston. Some of the areas you will see include the remains of Fort Crockett, Rosenberg Library, the Seawall Boulevard, many beautiful historic homes, Jean Lafitte¡¯s home, Moody Mansion, and much more. This train has been running since 1962.
New to Galveston in the summer of 2005 is the Schlitterbahn Waterpark. It will be located next to Moody Gardens. This state of the art park will have sections that can be closed off for year round indoor or outdoor fun. Kids of all ages will enjoy the uphill water coasters, kiddie playgrounds, tube chutes, water slides, wave pool, hot tub, whitewater rapids and much more. This park is guaranteed to give any family the ultimate in waterpark pleasure!
The Texas Seaport Museum gives the history of Galveston Island. One of the features is a newly restored ship originally built in 1877. This tall ship called the Elissa is waiting for you to come aboard and explore its decks. The Elissa has been declared a National Historic Landmark and promises to take you along with your vivid imagination back to the days when sailors rode the mighty waves of the oceans in these mighty ships. A museum and theater will let you watch the restoration of the ship. You can also look for names of your ancestors with a computer containing names of over 133,000 immigrants who came to this country through the port of Galveston ¨C ¡°The Ellis Island of the West.¡±
