An educational and fun place to go while in Toledo is COSI. COSI is a hands-on science, education, and fun place just waiting for your children to try to solve the puzzles and mysteries waiting for them. At COSI, your child will have fun learning about technology, the future, and the present.
The Toledo Zoo is not your ordinary zoo. Here you can put your kids in monkey cages to fee them sort of since the cafeteria was once the monkey house and still has some of the cage bars. While at the zoo, visit the African Savanna, Kingdom of the Apes, the Hippos, and much more.
Depending on what time of the year you visit Toledo you can take your baseball fans to a minor league game. Toledo is home to the Mud Hens minor league team. The team got their name back in 1896 when they played at a field near a marshland where Mud Hens were abundant. A Mud Hen is a blackish blue color with short wings and long legs.
Toledo has a beautiful Museum of Art boasting many wonderful activities to interest children as they learn about the arts. In the Family Center you will find games, puzzles, dolls, books, and a puppet theatre to name a few of the activities for children. Some of the collections on display come from Greece, Rome, and Egypt.
The Toledo Firefighters Museum offers history of Toledo¡¯s firefighters from 150 years ago. On display are uniforms, pumpers, and equipment used in the early days of firefighting.
Toledo¡¯s Museum of Carousel Art & History will let you experience a wonderful ride on the Allen Herchell carousel. Also available for your child¡¯s entertainment and yours is a working merry-go-round.
Cedar Point said to be the one of the largest amusement parks in the world will truly bring laughter, thrills, and screams to you and your kids as they take a ride on the Magnum roller coaster or one of the merry-go-rounds just for the little ones. Cedar Point offers a children¡¯s area called Camp Snoopy, Peanuts playground, and the kiddy kingdom. Although Cedar Point is not right in Toledo, it is only an hour drive away. It is recommended as one of the best parks in the Midwest. It has over 60 rides and boasts 16 roller coasters. You will also find a very large and fun-packed water park called Soak City.
Enchanted Forest Playland is an amusement park with a picnic area. They have a small variety of rides and a miniature golf course.
Putt-Putt Golf Courses of Toledo are in two locations, No. 3 and No. 4. Both offer three 18-hole putt-putt golf courses, arcade games, and a picnic area. No. 4 offers go-kart and bumper cars.
The Toledo area has over 6,000 acres of natural public land open year around. In the parks, you will find many picnic areas, hiking trails, playgrounds, bike trails, and other activities for kids and families. Some of the parks have paddleboat rentals, nature and natural history programs such as guided tours of the area and special events.
