GETTING TO KNOW ST.JOHN＊S

If history is your cup of tea, you will want to visit the following tourist spots:

#1: Annaberg Sugar Plantation 每 Here you will find the best preserved sugar plantation of its kind.  This site was built in the late 1800＊s and has daily scheduled guided tours with re-enactments and demonstrations.

#2: Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center 每 Here you can get all the background information you need for a well informed tour of St. John＊s and the Virgin Islands National Park.  You can pick up brochures, watch videos, walk through exhibits, and pick up maps to great tourist attractions.  Also here you can talk to a ranger and get insider tips on where to find the most beautiful beaches and where hidden treasures are located.

#3: Cruz Bay Visitor Center: This visitor center offers information on sightseeing, accommodations, and recreation in the area.  Great information spot for first-time islanders.

#4: Catherineberg Ruins 每 This historical location offers guided tours through an old sugar mill.  Re-enactments and demonstrations provided for the enjoyment of visitors.

WATER 

If you have come to the Caribbean to enjoy the natural resource of turquoise blue waters, then these attractions will definitely interest you.

#1: Trunk Bay 每 the most photographed beach in St. John＊s.  If you don＊t mind the crowds this is a great beach to start your adventure.  Here you will find an underwater marked trail for beginning snorkelers.  

#2: Cinnamon Bay 每 Here you will have access to a plethora of water sports including: snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing.  Also available at this site are beachfront campsites and cottages. 

#3: Watermelon Cay: You will need to swim to this site, but once there you will find world class snorkeling and experience close encounters with the island＊s marine life.

#4: Little Lameshur Bay: Another great beach that offers accommodations for weddings, anniversaries, or other celebrations.  It is a broad beach has a fantastic view of the Bordeaux Mountain.

#5: National Park Underwater Trail: The National Park Underwater Trail is the world＊s original marked underwater trail system, and is the best of its kind in the Caribbean.

#6: Two Brothers 每 Two Brothers is one of the most popular dive sites in the Caribbean.  Here you will experience underwater ledges, tropical fish, coral, and sponges.  If you are unfamiliar with the area, or new to diving, be sure to get current information or even hire a guide before venturing into the water at this location.

#7: Congo Cay 每 Diving spot that offers great close encounters with gliding rays.

LAND

There are many natural wonders and sites to see on land as well, and these sites are must-see.

#1: Reef Bay Trail 每 This trail system is 2.2 miles long that winds through shady forests, and passes by historical reminders of the past including sugar mills, and pre-Columbian petroglyphs. It ends at a gorgeous sandy beach, perfect for a sunset picnic or romantic interlude.

#2: Maho Bay: Here you will find the Maho Bay Campground.  114 tent-cottages are available for visitors to rent, and it is a fabulous eco-tourism location.

#3: Cinnamon Bay Nature Trail: Another great hiking trail that leads visitors through the natural and historical treasures offered by the island.  Great views, great experience.
