Welcome to Los Angeles, the city of the tanned and the fit.  If you're neither, the first place you should take your honey is of course the beach.  From Malibu in the north to Manhattan or Redondo Beach in the south there are miles of gorgeous beach front sight-seeing.  Rent some rollerblades or bicycles built for two and get moving.  Venice beach has a skateboard park that's wonderful for people watching.  You'll also see countless artisans selling their wares on the sidewalk there.  If you're lucky, you'll see a grown man in pink spandex riding a unicycle, or a magician walking with bare feet on glass.  For lunch, consider Shutters on the Beach at the end of Pico Boulevard.

Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade is an outdoor mall and fantastic for a leisurely stroll. While the stores may look familiar, the ambience is truly unique.  Singers, drummers, mimes and other performers will entertain you throughout your entire walk and shopping trip.  A great new cutting edge brand, Zara, just joined the fray, but you can also locate old stand-bys like Reebok and Banana Republic.

For exotic shopping, used records, comic books and avante garde art, try Melrose Ave. and the flea market at Fairfax High School.

Universal Studios is also a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with your significant other.  The City Walk at the entrance is a great place stroll, shop and eat, and the movie lovers among you will adore the Studio Tour and rides.  Universal also has a huge screen IMAX theatre.

For a more romantic overlook of the entire Los Angeles landscape, take a hike up Runyon Canyon.  Celebrities such as Drew Barrymore bring their beloved dogs for walks there, so you may just glimpse a star.  Griffith Park affords one of the best views of the city, and also stands out as a location from the movie Rebel Without a Cause.

Now that you've gotten some sun and exercise, it's time to relax!  Book a double-massage or spa treatment at The Grove in the Fairfax district or on Sunset Blvd. They will pamper you both beyond your imagination.  Later you can catch a flick right there or at the nearby Arclight Movie Theatre.  The Arclight is a very different kind of theatre.  They don't show any ads, and seats are reserved in advance, so there's never a line to wait in. The sound system is state of the art, and there's a cocktail bar and restaurant inside, too.  Even if you just want regular munchies with your flick, you have a choice of caramel corn, regular popcorn, and bagat and sausage sandwiches. Of course, expect to pay a bit more here, but they validate parking so it's not that much more than any other theatre.

For a romantic dinner for two, try the Spanish Kitchen, Dolce (Ashton Kutcher's club), L'Orangerie, or the Hotel Bel-Air.  Dancing is great at White Lotus on Cahuenga Blvd. and you might see another celebrity or two at this hot-spot.

For more casual dining, try The Cat & the Fiddle on Sunset Boulevard, or Mexican favorite El Compadre down the street. They serve flaming margaritas.  Sunset Blvd. is packed on Friday and Saturday nights.  Renting a convertible and driving the length of it (the main drag is between La Brea and Doheny) is great fun, but beware of cops; they'll bust you for loitering.  Miyagi's is famous for sushi, and the Viper room is a notorious celebrity hang out.  The Roxy showcases up and coming bands, and Bar Marmont (part of Chateau Marmont Hotel) is laid back but serves delicious fries and drinks.  It's a very romantic setting for couples to see and be seen.

Nearby Silver Lake is somewhat of an artist's bohemia.  Alluring coffee shops, restaurants and art lofts await you if you decide to explore the area.  Hollywood Blvd. contains famous Mann's Chinese Theatre, where the stars of yesterday and today placed their hands (and sometimes feet!) in cement.  Many impersonators and cartoon characters or superheroes saunter around 

the walk of fame offering to pose for pictures.  It's definitely a tourist haven, but if you're in the mood for such a venue, it's unforgettable.  Hollywood and Highland is a relatively new shopping mecca and restaurant and club palace.  Last but not least, hit Lucky Strikes right around the corner for some bowling.
