Atlantic City, nestled on the south New Jersey Shoreline is also known as Absecon Island. Used as a summer playground by the Lenni-Lenape Indians, long before English settlers arrived, it has a long and rich history of warm summer sunsets, and salt laced afternoons.

In the 20s and 30¡¯s before gambling arrived Atlantic City was ¡®the¡¯ place to go.

A few enterprising young men bought property from the natives to build homesteads, falling in love with the mild temperatures and the Sea air. By the 1800¡¯s a Post Office had been built, and there were seven full time residences on the island. By 1900, thousands had flocked to the island. Railroads brought people in from all parts of the country, and pre-war America fell in love at Atlantic City.

Today, whether strolling on Atlantic City¡¯s six-mile boardwalk, looking out at the surf and stars, or dining in one of the many fine restaurants adjoining the ocean, you¡¯ll find romance in the air with every breath. Find yourselves a walking map, and familiarize yourself with the streets. Find yourself recognizing the street names? That¡¯s because the popular board game, Monopoly, used the streets of Atlantic City for its street names!

If a mall is more your speed, Shops at Ocean One on the Boardwalk boasts over a hundred stores and restaurants. Innumerable smaller shops dot the Boardwalk, and a walk in either direction may have exactly what you¡¯re looking for. When you¡¯re finished shopping, pick from a virtual cornucopia of restaurants.

Old Waterway Inn at 1700 West Riverside Drive is known to have some of the most spectacular views on the island. Try and get a spot on the deck. Voted Best restaurant with a View for 2000, this is a must-see. Scannichio¡¯s at 119 S. California Ave is known to be a favorite spot of a celebrity or two. Homemade pasta dominates the menu, and specials abound nightly. Open till 10PM.

The famous Stage Delicatessen is still making sandwiches too big to finish, and is open until 10PM. Located inside the Trump 

Taj Mahal, a nice place to stop while taking in the sights and sounds of one of Atlantic City¡¯s most beautiful Casinos. Headlining some of the biggest names in entertainment, the Taj is a delightful mix of fantasy and adventure. Home to Hard Rock Caf¨¦, and All Star Caf¨¦ as well as the Stage Deli, The Taj is an absolutely fabulous place to play. 

And play you will; the slots, Poker, Blackjack. Take a walk on the beach at dawn, play on the beautiful Jersey Shore during the day, end the day by gazing out at the stars at night from the deck of a romantic restaurant.
