Perhaps Salt Lake City, Utah, does not sound like a romantic place to visit.  How wrong you are!  There are lots of romantic places to stay, to eat and to play.  Most people would be surprised about the many options for fun that a couple can experience in Salt Lake City.

     Salt Lake offers a wide variety of romantic Bed and Breakfasts to choose from if you want a cozy, romantic room just for two.  The Inn on the Hill is a gorgeous historic mansion on Capitol Hill, which is just minutes away from downtown.  The rooms are attractive, luxurious, and the bathrooms are to die for.  The views from nearly every room look down onto the city, and several have balconies.  Breakfast is served at several times each day, and the excellent food is served in a beautiful paneled dining room surrounded by antiques.

     Another good choice is the Wildflowers Bed and Breakfast, also located near downtown in a charming 1891 Victorian house.  It is more intimate, with only five rooms, but each boasts a private bath and attractive and comfortable d¨¦cor.  The breakfast is wonderful.  The food is decidedly gourmet, and you won¡¯t be disappointed or go away hungry.

     There are many good places to eat dinner as well.  The Log Haven Restaurant is tastefully housed in a log mansion surrounded by pines and waterfalls in nearby Millcreek Canyon.  The food is upscale and delicious and the atmosphere is great.  It is one place you won¡¯t want to miss.

     If a romantic French dining experience is more to your tastes, then La Caille is the place to go.  It is located in downtown Salt Lake City.  The cuisine is European, the service is impeccable and it is a great dining experience. 

     Salt Lake City offers diverse palate choice.  From traditional Italian to the fun of a Hard Rock Caf¨¦, whatever you are looking for in food can be found here.  Trust me, you won¡¯t go hungry is Salt Lake City, and you don¡¯t need to go very far to find excellent dining.

     Day or night, there are lots of things to do in Salt Lake City for two.  If you are visiting during the winter and skiing is your thing, there are seven lovely ski resorts within 30-45 minutes of Salt Lake City.  There are terrains for every skill level, and ski packages completed with accommodations are available.  

     However, if you are visiting at another time of the year, there are other activities available.  For instance, if you like history and old buildings, you can meander through the historic downtown walking tour of Salt Lake City.  There are 58 historic building on the tour, spanning 100 years of history.  

     Perhaps you want to be more relaxed, more pampered and let your wife/girlfriend do some shopping.  A day at Gardner Village is just the thing for it.  There are a bunch of quaint shops featuring everything from country furniture to handmade quilts.  The restaurant is divine and housed in an old mill.  Then in the afternoon, spend some time at their day spa, and get pampered.  Have a massage or body wrap, get a manicure or a pedicure.  

     For something new to do in Salt Lake City, try a Salt Island Adventure Tour.  These are cruises on the Great Salt Lake, on a luxurious boat with a witty and knowledgeable guide.  You can choose a lunch buffet, afternoon wine and cheese, or the always-beautiful sunset dinner cruises.  The tour promises an interesting look at the mysterious Great Salt Lake while providing good food and good company.  

     As nighttime arrives, the choices become endless.  If you are looking for something classy and romantic, opt for a stellar performance from Ballet West or the Utah Symphony.  Both are nationally acclaimed and their productions are wonderful.   Or, the Capitol Theater and the Pioneer Theater offer a variety of theatrical productions to enchant the most romantic soul or at least entertain a less romantic one!

     If all that class bores you out of your mind, you can always attend an IMAX show or rock out to a laser light performance at Clark Planetarium.  Both are great ways to enjoy a sensory experience and you can hold hands in the dark!

     And for a good laugh, go to the interactive comedy improv at Laughing Stock, put in your two cents, and laugh out loud at what they come up with.  It is guaranteed to entertain!  There are many good downtown bars and pubs to finish off your night in style and have a late night drink before heading off to that romantic bed and breakfast you checked into.

     Last of all, if you are in Salt Lake City during the Christmas holidays, don¡¯t miss Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City.  During this festive time of year, the ten-acre block of trees around the temple are festooned with millions of tiny lights.  Nothing could be more romantic than a stroll through this outdoor spectacle, snuggled close together for warmth.  The square is well lighted and is quite a spectacular sight.  

     The best thing about Sal Lake City is that there are many things to do for everyone.  There is an activity to appeal to any taste, and the dining, accommodations and atmosphere make this place an ideal romantic getaway.
