Snowbird is a full service resort that focuses on both recreation and relaxation.  They offer luxurious, affordable lodging accommodations, many restaurants and eating establishment, festivals and retail establishments.  You get all the comforts of the ¡°big city¡± with the beautiful rugged mountain background.  Snowbird houses the famous world-renowned Snowbird Mountain school and has a 125-passenger Aerial Tram for fast transportation; not to mention the ¡°best powder¡± on earth to ski in.  During the ski season the weather can be unpredictable so proper ski attire is suggested.

Alta Ski Resort is one of the smaller resorts close to Snowbird. This resort is known for its deep powder and rugged terrain.  Located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, the ski area has spectacular views and panoramic scenery.  The lift tickets are inexpensive (adult all-day passes $47.00) and the fabulous slopes make it one of Utah¡¯s premier resorts.  The resort offers it all including skiing, snowboarding and ¡°killer powder.¡±  Alta doesn¡¯t have a lodge located right on the property but there are many hotels close to the resort that offer transportation for their visitors, including the lodges at and near Snowbird.  

Solitude ski resort located up Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake has so much to offer for a fabulous ski vacation.  Solitude sees approximately 600¡±-800¡± of snow a year.  They have several ski runs to fit any skill level from beginners to more advanced skiers.  Solitude has a ski school so your can perfect your skiing or just learn how to do it right.  

Lodging is readily available on the resort property.  The Inn at Solitude has spectacular views, fine dining and wonderful entertainment.  Prices range from $200-$260 during the peak winter season.  If plan on skiing the big mountains at Solitude there are several housing options available.  Another place you can stay that is located close to the resort is Silver Fork Lodge, which is one mile from the ski resort.  They offer comfortable Bed & Breakfast style environment.  The lodge is overlooking Honey Comb Canyon and Solitude Ski Resort.  It is a rustic cabin with history that dates back to the 1850¡¯s.  On the property you have access to backcountry skiing and snowshoeing.  They offer transportation to the airport and have shuttle to take you to the Solitude to a fun filled day of skiing the famous Utah slopes.  They have competitive prices, but rooms book well in advance during ski season so make your reservations early to get the best room and rates.

Brighton Ski Resort was voted by Utahans as the #1 resort for child/family friendly terrain and the also the ¡°best value¡± with an all-day adult pass at just $41.00.  It is one of the oldest resorts in the country, but is certainly not outdated.  It is extremely diverse and modern, with several lifts and high-speed quads so families can ride together.  It is located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon just 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.   Besides the variety of terrain and various skill level slopes, Brighton offers skiers and snowboarders have access to some of the best backcountry in Utah.  There are cabins and several lodged located close to the resort to make it convenient and fun for the whole family to enjoy a day or weekend of skiing at Brighton Ski Resort.
