When packing for Fiji, make sure to bring comfortable clothing. Casual tropical clothing, such as t-shirts, shorts and lightweight slacks are ideal for the afternoon. Women may want to bring summer dresses or lightweight skirts. BUDGET TRAVEL
If you are traveling on a budget, there are a number of campsites and dormitory style accommodations in Fiji.
The Surf and Dive Rendezvous on Coral Coast is a small hotel offering simple, clean dormitory rooms with shared facilities or campsites. The hotel is located on a stretch of pristine beach. Prices range from $35F to $110F. None of the rooms are air conditioned.
The Seashell Cove Resort on Nadi offers campsites, dormitories, lodge rooms and one executive apartment. The resort is located on 7 acres of tropical gardens and coconut trees on the water¡¯s edge. For $35F-$53 per person, you can enjoy the swimming pool, internet access, tennis courts, volleyball courts and beach bar located on the resort grounds.
Unless you stay in the executive suite, there is no air conditioning available in the rooms.
MID-RANGE ACCOMODATIONS
The Tubakula Beach Bungalows on Coral Coast are intimate, bungalows located on the beach. All accommodations, including private bungalows, shared cottages and dormitory rooms, have kitchens, ceiling fans, insect screens and maid service. The hotel offers a pool, restaurant and BBQ area. Rooms range from $43F-$96F.
The Bounty Island Sanctuary is located on 48 acres of rainforest on the Mamanuca Islands. The resort features white sand beaches, snorkeling, sailing and bicycling. The accommodations include private bungalows, dormitory rooms and private rooms with shared facilities. Prices range from $46F-$230 a night.
UPPER-LEVEL ACCOMODATIONS
If you are looking for a little more luxury, head to the Outrigger Reef Fiji on Coral Coast which sits on 40 acres of sweeping palm trees and tropical gardens. The resort offers deluxe rooms and private bungalows with air conditioning, color television, a swimming pool, a 24 hour fitness center, tennis courts, restaurants and a kids club. Prices range from $430F-$810F.
The Outrigger Reef won the Fiji Tourism Award for best deluxe accommodations in November 2003.
Treasure Island is a 14.5 acres resort surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches. Treasure Island is located on the Mamanuca Islands and offers private bungalows from $495F. Amenities include air conditioning, a spa and fitness center, a swimming pool, tennis courts, kayaking, miniature golf and snorkeling.
