If you like things that are a little on the mellow side. You can stay in the city of Portland and make your way to the Rose Gardens where you¡¯ll find multiple types of roses and plenty of scents to make your heart race or make your way to the Japanese Garden where you can walk along beautiful paths of tranquility and peace. Head to the great bookstores around the city and find yourself sitting in a cozy chair sipping your favorite coffee or tea while reading poems to your sweetheart. Make reservations for a dinner cruise along the beautiful Willamette River. One idea for a little bit of romance is to escape to the Hawthorne neighborhood. Here you will find tons of shops where you can find whatever your heart desires. Head on over to the theater where not only can you see a movie but you can also have dinner and sample some of the fine microbrews made here locally. If you are looking for some peacefulness take a drive down to Silver Lake Falls State Park. Here you can hike miles of nature trails and discover the beautiful waterfalls. There is a chance you may also see some of the wildlife that lives in this beautiful park.  Escaping here will certainly leave you breathless.

If you are looking for a little more adventure you can take a drive up the scenic Columbia River Gorge and stop for lunch in one of the quaint roadside cafes just off the highway. Stop in Hood River and spend the rest of your day together windsurfing. For the diehard romantic make your way to Yamhill County where you can find solace in a quaint bed and breakfast. Perhaps going on one of the wine tasting trips would sooth your need for romance. 

Better yet make reservations for a hot air balloon ride followed by a champagne brunch at dawn. You can always make a trip to the coast just a little over an hour¡¯s drive from the city of Portland. Oregon¡¯s beaches offer various types of accommodations including beachfront properties. Walk along the miles of sandy beaches hunting for shells or take a horseback ride along the oceanside. Head to the mountains for a day on the slopes and afterwards wisk your loved one away to the warmth of the fireplace just inside the lodge where you can ship on hot buttered rums.
