APPLEWOOD＊S RESTAURANT is located at 2747 West Memorial, just west of Quail Springs Mall.  Applewood＊s slogan is LIFE IS SHORT.  EAT THE FRITTERS FIRST.  That is why when you sit down to eat at Applewood＊s Restaurant you will find someone immediately serving up hot apple fritters.  And you＊ll keep getting the delicious fritters continuously throughout your meal!  If that alone isn＊t reason enough to try out this restaurant, then the aroma of the homemade yeast rolls baking in the oven will have your mouth watering as soon as you step inside.  Some favorites on Applewood＊s menu include an Individual Pot Roast, (an Applewood＊s tradition), Baked Pork Chops, and a variety of steaks.  All of their specialty items come with your choice of an Apple Waldorf salad or a Green on Green salad with house dressing.  You won＊t go wrong with either choice.

BAHAMA BREEZE is located at 9219 LK Hefner Parkway.  Here you will enjoy a meal presented in the upbeat, informal style of the Caribbean.  This restaurant is right on the edge of Lake Hefner.  In fact, request to sit out on the patio where you can enjoy the view of the sailboats out on the lake.  This restaurant has excellent wait staff that is very thorough in going through the menu with you.   If you＊d like to enjoy a drink before dinner, try a delicious icy treat 每 a Bahamarita.  It＊s the restaurant＊s signature drink.  There are so many appetizers to choose from that it is hard to decide which you＊ll try first.  One suggestion is their coconut onion rings 每 they are delicious!  Although you can fill up on appetizers, there is wide selection of entrees available on the menu. 

PIONEER PIES RESTAURANT AND BAKERY is located at 2201 S.W. 74th.  Look for a rustic wooden building off of Interstate 240 between S. May Ave and S. Penn Ave.  Pioneer Pies has a variety of menu items available for their customers.  From sandwiches to steaks they are sure to satisfy!  They also serve up delicious breakfast specials and great lunch specials which include half of a sandwich, your choice of soup or a salad (served in pie pan), and a hefty piece of your choice of pie.  (These specials are listed on a small menu right on your table!)  Sugar-free pies are available for those who may be diabetic or those who are watching their calorie intake.  In fact, Pioneer Pies also offers a selection of mail-order pies.  Depending on the season, enjoy one of their seasonal pies, such as pumpkin during the fall or fresh strawberry in the summer.  And if you don＊t want to cook your holiday pies, Pioneer Pies offers whole pies for sale daily.  But if you want a whole pie during the holiday season 每 be prepared to order early.  Take a glance at all of the mouth-watering pies on display in the display case that is located in the waiting area.  Oh, and don＊t forget to pick up a pie or two to take home with you!

FINE DINING:

THE HAUNTED HOUSE is located at 7101 Miramar Blvd.  At the end of a long, gravel road you will find a time-honored mansion complete with a squeaky staircase.  This is certainly the place to choose for a mysterious and romantic evening.  Why is it called the Haunted House?  Wait!  I can＊t give away the answer!  But, be sure to ask your waiter or waitress for a pamphlet detailing the history of the haunted house mystery.  Reservations are required for this restaurant.  Don＊t come too early or too late! 

NIKZ AT THE TOP is located at 5900 Mosteller Dr., atop the 20-story United Founder＊s Tower in Oklahoma City.  Get on the elevator and push NIKZ.  When you step off, you＊ll be greeted by one of the host or hostesses at Nikz.  Nikz is the only revolving skyline restaurant in the city.  In fact, it is one of only a few revolving restaurants in the nation.  You will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of Oklahoma City.  The choices of food range from steak and seafood to pasta.  If you want it, Nikz probably has it.  Choose to begin your evening with one of the many wines from a most impressive wine list.  Nikz at the Top also boasts a cigar lounge and claims to have an assortment of the best stogies this side of Havana.  Call to make a reservation or go to Nikz website to complete an on-line reservation form.  Nikz claims to be upscale 每 but not uptight!

MEXICAN RESTAURANTS:

ABUELO＊S MEXICAN FOOD EMBASSY is located at 17 E. Sheridan Avenue in Bricktown.  Here you will find excellent Mexican cuisine and be able to dine in the atmosphere of a Mexican courtyard.  One house specialty on the menu is Enchiladas De Cozumel.  This special consists of three avocado enchiladas covered in a rich, white wine sauce with shrimp, scallops, mushrooms and roasted peppers.  It＊s served with coastal rice and fresh vegetables.  Be sure to leave some room for dessert 每 you＊ve got a few great choices here too!  Will it be Margarita Pie with Tequila Sauce, Dessert Nachos, or perhaps the Dulce De Leche cheesecake?

CHILENO＊S MEXICAN RESTAURANT is located at 15 E. California in Bricktown.  Here you will find a wait staff that is very friendly.  In case you＊re worried about time, Chileno＊s serves up the food hot and fast!  Start your meal with some delicious Fiesta Nachos.  Chileno＊s Special Mexican Dinner includes one cheese enchilada, one chicken enchilada, two tamales, and one beef or chicken taco 每 all served with guacamole, rice, and beans.  While you＊re enjoying your chips and dip, be sure that you ask for some cilantro salsa!    And, if you＊re not in Bricktown, try out Chileno＊s Mexican Restaurant at one of their other locations.  You can find a Chileno＊s at 4221 S. Robinson, 5804 S. Western, 5900 N. May, 427 S.W. 36th, and one in Edmond at 1612 S. Boulevard.

TED＊S CAFE ESCONDITO is located at 2836 N.W. 68th.  The lines are long, so you may want to try to go a bit earlier than you would normally plan to.  Even then, you＊ll probably have a wait.  If you can get close enough while you are waiting, you can watch some of the cooks preparing fresh, home-made flour tortillas.  These will be served before your meal, along with chips, salsa, and queso.  If you especially like hot and spicy stuff, ask for the extra hot salsa.   Ted＊s Famous Fajitas are prepared with beef or chicken (marinated overnight) and are brought to your table in a small skillet full of meat, onions, and peppers.  Not in the mood for fajitas?  You might want to try a spinach enchilada.  Or, choose from the variety of selections on the menu.  You can even order a light portion.  And, when you＊re ready for your dessert, you＊ll get a delicious cinnamon-sugar sopapia.  Look on the menu at Ted＊s Caf谷 Escondito.  You will find a paragraph stating that if this isn＊t the best Mexican food you have ever eaten 每 you are entitled to a full refund!  Ted＊s Caf谷 Escondito now has a second location on the south side of Oklahoma City on Western Avenue 每 be sure to go early 每 there＊s a wait at that location too.

STEAKS:

CATTLEMEN'S STEAKHOUSE s located in the middle of the Oklahoma City Stockyards at 1309 S. Agnew.  It opened its doors in 1910, making it oldest restaurant in Oklahoma City.  In 1945, the restaurant was owned by Hank Fry.  The story goes that Hank Fry ran out of money and luck in a dice game.  When this happened, he put up Cattlemen＊s Steakhouse for collateral.  He made a bet with Gene Wade, a local rancher, (who put up his life savings), that if Gene could roll a HARD SIX (a three and a three combination), the restaurant would be his.  And with one roll of the dice, Gene Wade owned the Cattlemen＊s Steakhouse.  Today Cattlemen＊s is still known for its hearty meals and great breakfast and lunch specials.  One breakfast special of the house is brains with eggs.  Lamb fries are another specialty on the menu at Cattlemen＊s.  The steaks taste so good 每 there＊s no need for any steak sauce!  So next time you＊re hungry for a steak, remember to go on down to Cattlemen＊s Steakhouse.

CHARLESTONS is located on South Meridian Avenue (Meridian Avenue is often referred to by locals as the Meridian Strip).  A variety of items from steak to baby-back barbeque ribs are listed on the menu at Charleston＊s Restaurant.  If you want an appetizer, try their delicious and creamy potato soup topped with cheese and bacon.  You can also order loaded fries -- but you＊ll need to make a special request as they are no longer listed on the menu.  Instead of a loud TV in the background, you＊ll enjoy a nice, quiet atmosphere here.  If you＊re seated in the right place, you can watch the chefs prepare the meals.  If there is a wait, you can enjoy a drink in the bar area.  If you wish to eat in the bar area, immediate seating is usually available.  

KONA RANCH HAWAIIAN GRILL is located at 2037 South Meridian.  Enjoy a glass of wine before dinner or ask for some of their tasty mango flavored iced tea.  It＊s a delightful thirst quencher!  Some of their house specialties include volcano onions, coconut shrimp and smoked prime rib.  Favorites include steak and lobster as well as various choice cuts of beefs broiled to perfection.  Try their famous skillet kuki for dessert.  The wait staff at Kona Ranch Hawaiian Grill is efficient and friendly.  You don＊t have to go any farther than here to fill up on some delectable dishes!
