Are you in search of perfect eyebrows?  Here are some tips to get your eyebrows looking fabulous without the costly expense of a salon or the pain of tweezers.

First of all, ignore every rumor which you have heard regarding shaving your eyebrows.  The hair does not grow back thicker and scraggly, but it comes back in the same form as it did before the tiny hairs were removed.

The first step to begin shaving your eyebrows is to mark where you want your eyebrows to begin and end.  Since eyebrows are the frames of your eyes and eyes are the mirrors to the soul, you will want to make sure not to over or under mark your brows.

Using a pencil, place it vertically against your right nostril, making sure that the pencil is in a straight line from your right eyebrow to your nose.  Where the outside part of the pencil comes in contact with your eyebrow (the inside part of the pencil will touch your nose), this is the place to start.  

With the same pencil, place it diagonally with one end touching your right nostril and the other end touching the outermost corner of your eye.  Where the inside of the pencil meets the corner of your eye (the inside is the same side of the pencil which touches your nostril), this is the finish line for your right eyebrow.

Repeat this process with your left nostril, eyebrow and eye for the perfect beginning and ending of your left eyebrow.

How thick should the beginning of your eyebrow be (the part closest to your nose)? If your eyes are somewhat far apart from each other, you will want the beginning of your eyebrow to be thicker than the end, as well as extending the thicker part about 1/3 of the way through. This will draw attention to the thickness of your eyebrows instead of the width of your eyes, making your eyes seem closer together. 

If your eyes are relatively close together, you will want to have the thickness only last a centimeter of so.  This will draw attention away from the center of your eyes and make your eyes seem farther apart.

If your eyes are centered, you can do whatever you like, being sure that the thick part on each eyebrow measures the same.  Otherwise it will look as though your eyes are off center or crooked.

Now that you have the perfect design for your eyebrows, you can simply shave off the hairs that you don¡¯t want.  Make sure that you have a sharp razor and be careful not to over shave.  If your razor isn¡¯t sharp, the result could be either more painful than waxing or an easy cause to over shave.

The next step is your eyebrow pencil. It is very important to get the right color eyebrow pencil to match your hair color.  If you normally dye your hair lighter, you will need to use your razor to thin out your eyebrows before using an eyebrow pencil on them.  If you normally dye your hair darker, choose a pencil that will complement your new hair color.  Using the same points that you used when preparing to shave your eyebrows, start your pencil mark at the inside point of your eyebrow (closest to your nose).  Continue drawing in an arched fashion, peaking the arch directly above the pupil of your eye.  Repeat this process with your other eye.  

Now you need to fluff your eyebrows with the pencil.  Starting at the beginning of an eyebrow, draw short,  slightly curved lines on the thick part of your brow, tapering your strokes as you get closer to the end.  Repeat with the other eyebrow. Don¡¯t worry much about sparse, unwanted hairs as you can easily shave them off after your pencil has drawn and filled in your eyebrow.

Shaving your eyebrows does result in your eyebrows unwanted hairs growing back faster than waxing or tweezing.  The positive thing is that you can do your own touch ups every day if you need to, and relatively quickly to boot.
