The word spa is an ancient acronym used from the Roman bath projects by Emperor Nero. It stands for Saintas Per Aquas, meaning heal through water. Spas are used internationally for healing.
However, they are finding that one can use the healing of water in their own home through therapeutic bath spa treatments. There are several different types of bath spas in order to treat and heal several different types of things.
What is Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy has been used for centuries as a way to heal using water. It is usually practiced using with natural thermal springs providing large amounts of heated water for natural or manmade pools.
Water can work in many ways that help healing. First, water is able to cause a response of flow, movement, and circulation. It is also a delivery system that provides nutrients and removes toxins. By creating a bath that is heated, it will stimulate physical response. If the bath contains herbs, nutrients, or minerals, it will provide the body with more elements of health.

Preparing A Bath
Water temperature is one of the important things to be aware of when preparing a hom bath spa. Each degree of water will have different effects on your body. You should never take a bath that is over 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit. For a hot 10-25 minute bath, you should use the temperature of 100-105. For an herbal bath, the temperature of 98-100 degrees Fahrenheit is best. These baths should be from about 15-30 minutes. To produce heating reflex, a bath temperature of 90-98 degrees is best for 5-10 minutes. An 80-90 degree 5 minute bath can also be used for heating reflex. For a dramatic body-heating reflex, you can use a temperature of 65-80 degrees. You should never stay in this temperature for more than thirty seconds.
Different Types of Spas
1. Bath Salts. Salts can be used for several different types of healing. These include psoriasis, eczema, and other dry skin conditions. It also includes cleaning pores and detoxifying the body. It has also been found that sea salts help to rejuvenate cells and provide an exchange between minerals and toxins in the blood and water.
2. Mud Baths. There are several different types of mud baths that can be used. Each type of mud is different, depending on the place where it is from. They may contain different amounts of mineral salts, CO2, aragonite, calcite, and iron deposits. One of the most famous muds that are used is from the Dead Sea in Israel. This mud is known for cleansing and moisturizing the skin, as well as closing pores in the skin. It also rids the body of toxins. Another popular type of mud is fango. This type of mud is known to affect nerve endings, which then releases hormonal substances by the endocrine glands. A third type of mud is moor mud, which comes from peat. This mud is known for it¡¯s high amount of nutrients.
3. Herbs. There are several different types of herbs and plants that can also add to the healing in your spa. Many will make herbal wraps in order to make the experience of using herbs more intense. They do so by dipping a linen or cotton cloth into the desired aroma, then place it on different places in their body. It can also be used by putting the aroma into the bath. Some different types of herbs are:
Lavender. This type of herb is mainly used for a toner, anti-inflammatory, and cooling to the skin. It is best used for those with oily and sensitive skin.
Lemon Balm. This is mainly used as an anti-virus. It can be used for herpes or as an antifungal. This can include things such as athlete¡¯s foot.
Rose and Geranium. This type of herb is used for regenerating skin and balancing oil glands. It is especially good for those with dry skin.
Rosemary. This is known as the anti-aging herb.
Witch Hazel. This herb is used for healing several different types of skin problems.
No matter which type of home bath spa is used for therapeutic needs, they will always prove to be effective and a healing experience.
