A tall man and a short man both share the same problem in finding jeans and pants to fit them. The problem is material. A short man can often find that he has too much material, while a tall man can often wish his pants had more material. This problem is common when jeans or slacks are bought off the rack at a department store. 

Therefore, if you're a tall man, or, if you want to find the best clothing for that tall man in your life, you should always visit a clothing store that specializes in big and tall men's styles. These stores will have the jeans and pants that have the longer inseams that you need to buy. Tall sizes range from medium tall, large tall, and extra large tall all the way up to five extra large tall. And, these stores will also have a wide variety of casual, dress, and business pants.  

If you're buying clothes for someone else, make sure that you have his exact measurements written down on a piece of paper. The measurements you'll need to buy a pair of jeans or pants with will include the waist size and the inseam size. The waist size, of course, is self explanatory. The inseam is the measurement in inches from the crotch to the heel.   

Or, you're buying pants or jeans for yourself, make sure that you know your exact measurements. If you're not sure what they are, ask someone to measure your waist and your inseam for you. Don't try to rely on the size from a pair of pants you already own because sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. A size "large" might fit you well in one brand name, but be too big in another brand name.    

So they are correct, have the person who is taking your measurements pull the ends of the tape together firmly, but not too tightly. Or, to measure your inseam, they should pull the tape out taut from your crotch to your heel. To have your waist measured, have them run the tape around your waist over your bare skin or over a light shirt. Never measure over a pair of pants or jeans that you have on! If a measurement ends up being a little less or more of a number, then round off to the nearest number.    

And, in order to help you find the best fit for you, you should wear a pair of slacks of jeans that fit you well. That way, you'll have a reference for when you try on new pairs.       

When you're looking for new jeans and pants for yourself or for a tall man, you should look for styles that will enhance the look of your body. However, you don't need clothing that makes you look even taller, or like a bean pole! Cargo pants, for example, can make you look shorter because they will take people's look away from your height. Flared leg jeans will also help you to look shorter, fuller, and not as thin. Pleated dress or casual pants can also add a look of fullness to your body if you are tall and very slender. Cuffs on the bottom of the pant legs of dress pants can make a tall man look a little less taller too.
