When planning a wedding, much is to be decided. Will you have a coordinator or do the planning yourself? Do you want an indoors or outdoors wedding? Will you wear an up-do or leave your hair down? Wedding favors should be added to a list of items you need to take care of before the wedding. These are small gifts handed out to wedding guests as a token of appreciation for helping the couple celebrate their special day. Depending on your budget, you can spend anywhere from a few cents to over twenty-five dollars for each favor. Ask Martha Stewart and she will probably have you handing out 7-day cruise vacations to each guest. If you are looking for some ideas to help inspire you for your own wedding favors, here is a list of some items you may want to think about.

Looking through sites on wedding favors, one great favor was to order personalized wedding coasters. At a few dollars a pop, though, most new couples paying for their own wedding would be able to afford them. Instead, why not buy your own plain glass coasters at a local crafts store and personalize them yourself? Print out labels that are the same size as the coaster that have a favorite poem or quote, the couple¡¯s names and the wedding date. Use a strong, but clear adhesive to glue the label onto the coaster for a beautiful and practical favor. 

If you or somebody you know who is helping you with the wedding planning loves to bake, put those skills to use. A few days before the wedding, bake some large heart-shaped sugar cookies (one for each guest and a few extra, in case some break). Using colorful frosting and a steady hand, write out the date of the wedding and the couple¡¯s names on the front of each cookie. Allow the cookies to set and then tie them up in some clear cellophane and ribbon or place each one in a small box and tie up with a ribbon. 

At a friend¡¯s wedding, we left with some of the best favors we had ever received: a photograph of the couple themselves. They went to a crafts store and bought inexpensive silver heart-shaped frames (one for each guest or couple). They made copies of their engagement photos and placed one in each frame. If you have a little extra money, you can engrave the frames with the couple¡¯s names and the date of the wedding. 

If you and your spouse-to-be are known as the bakers or chefs amongst your friends and family members, why not give out favors that remind them of that. You can give out inexpensive heart-shaped cookie cutters (with a label attached that has the name of the couple and wedding date). If you and your spouse-to-be love golf, give out bags of red golf tees (or white golf tees with hearts painted on them). 

Nowadays, you can simply go online and get anything personalized. Some of my favorite favors are scented soaps (with the couple¡¯s names inscribed), a tin of mints (with ¡°Love¡± inscribed on the tin), coffee or tea bags and candy wrappers that have the couple¡¯s names inscribed on them.
