Whether that style is traditional, unique, functional, historical or nature-at-it¡¯s-best, Hartford, Connecticut, offers a number of sites that will fit the bill.
The Wadsworth Atheneum located on Main Street is America¡¯s oldest continuously operating public art museum and opens their facility for weddings and functions. The Morgan Building, a Renaissance Revival house, offers a two-story open atrium highlighting carved marble columns, twin staircases and elegant tapestries as a warm welcome to guest. The Morgan Great Hall serves as a reception hall showcasing 17th and 18th century masterpieces, inlaid marble floors and fifty-foot ceilings. The museum itself contains a vast art collection that can be viewed by guests who dare to venture away from other reception areas such as the indoor Avery Court, the outdoor Gengras Court, or the cathedral-style main lobby. Room rental, security, setup and reception conveniences are all arranged with the newlyweds and the staff at The Wadsworth Atheneum.
The restoration and preservation of The Great Hall at Hartford¡¯s Union Station brings the romance of rail travel back to life. The 1889 brownstone built during the elegance and adventure of train travel, is still in use today. As trains slow trek through, The Great Hall with it¡¯s arched window, oak and marble finishing touches and original brass lighting fixtures, serves as a testament that old can become new again. This facility is a great location for large-scale weddings with accommodations for up to five hundred guests. Though a little effort is required for catering, florist and decorative planning, The Great Hall is worth it.

Larger parties can be held on the State House lawn; a manicured and tree-lined area behind the State House and secluded from the street.
Outdoor events can take place at Elizabeth Park Rose Garden in Hartford or just outside city limits at Wickham Park.
