Perhaps the most important part of planning a wedding for any bride-to be is finding the perfect wedding dress.  With the many options available today, this can be a very stressful task. There are many different wedding gowns available to suit every body type, but finding the right one to flatter your particular body type can be challenging.

     Petite brides should look for a wedding dress that is simple and close fitting, which can make one look taller. The A- and Princess lines can be very flattering for a petite bride. An A-line dress has an A shape with the skirt flaring out from the waist. Stay away from anything that is too elaborate or full because this can overwhelm a smaller person.  Also avoid low waists because they can make a shorter frame look as if it¡¯s cut in half. If you are petite and comfortable with the shape of your body, a sheath would also be an option for you to consider.  

     Tall brides might want to choose a dress with a fuller bodice.  A strapless dress would be ideal for longer, thinner arms. If you have long legs and want to show them off, you can do so with a skirt that falls above the knee.    A longer, closer fitted, skirt will also accentuate long legs.  Almost any style will suit a taller frame.

Full-figured brides might also choose the A-line style for the wedding gown because it lengthens the body without emphasizing the waistline. An empress dress is also very flattering on fuller figures.  Avoid a gown that looks too busy with a lot going into the gown. Softer fabrics are also ideal. Wedding gowns with fitted bodices and A-line skirts are well suited for a pear shape.  A ball gown can make the waist look smaller.  Avoid sheaths because they can make you look disproportionate.  If you have a problem finding the perfect gown in a larger size, you might want to try a bridal shop warehouse because there are styles in a wide range of sizes.

Thin brides who want to appear curvy can also opt for a ball gown because it gives the illusion of an hourglass figure.  Stay away from very full skirts and try a semi-full skirt for a smaller frame.  A sheath is also ideal for thinner figures.  

When shopping for a wedding gown, try on several different styles to see which looks best on you.  Bring a family member or a close friend with you to help you make a decision and take pictures of different gowns if the shop will allow it. Don¡¯t go overboard and spend too much.  Save money for additional costs, including alterations and accessories.

Be patient and don¡¯t be too hasty when looking for that perfect wedding dress.  Take your time and choose a style that suits you. Let your personality show through the gown.  Make sure that you love the gown and feel confident because this will show through on your special day.
