Are looking for creative ideas for wedding favors? If you are having a small wedding or if you want to add a unique special touch without a huge expense, you might want to consider making personalized wedding favors for your guests. With so many standard wedding favors that either get tossed away or permanently stored in a drawer, you want something your guests can get use out of and at the same time, remember your big day. How about personalized luggage tags for each of your guests? Luggage tags can be used over and over and not necessarily for luggage, but for numerous items such as gym bags, brief cases, backpacks, lunch kits and much more.
By making them yourself, you can save hundreds of dollars. If you have access to a color printer, the only other materials you will need are: perforated business card sheets, a small laminating machine and luggage tag laminating pouches with straps. All of these items can be purchased at an office supply store or through the internet. Even if you have to purchase each of them specifically for this project, your overall cost will still be hundreds of dollars less than the cost of having them professionally made.
About 3 or 4 weeks prior to your wedding, or as soon as you have your final headcount, allow yourself a few days to work on the project. The tags will have two sides. On one side you can print an image of your wedding theme or any type of art image you would like, along with the couple¡¯s names and wedding date. On the other side you will put your guests¡¯ information. You will need to determine whether you want to simply list the person¡¯s name or the name, address, and phone number (if it is available to you). If you want to put the guests¡¯ name and address, simply use the same database you used for your invitations. If you have your contacts in an excel spreadsheet, you can simply create a mail merge document and print directly to the business card sheets. If you are not familiar with this feature, you can print the addresses on clear labels and then stick them on to the business card sheets. You can do this for both the guest information side (Side A) and the wedding information side (Side B).
Once you have printed your tags, separate the cards along the perforated lines. Take a ¡°Side A¡± card and a ¡°Side B¡± card and place them back to back, making certain that the printed sides are facing outward. Next, place the cards in a laminating pouch. Be sure and center the cards horizontally and vertically. Feed the pouch through the laminating machine to seal the tags. You may have to feed each tag through several times to fully heat the entire tag. Often, pockets form where the tag was not fully heated and it produces a cloudy rather than a clear, glossy appearance. Once you have laminated the tags, tie the straps on to each and you have created beautiful, professional, and durable luggage tags. Your guests are certain to get use out of this wedding favor. |
