You only have one month left before you tie the knot. Most brides/grooms go through a period where everything seems surreal. Is this really happening? Will I really be getting married in a few weeks? This type of anxiety is completely normal and most couples about to get married feel it at one point or another. With only one month left before the big day, your mind may be on overdrive. Before you get completely overwhelmed, go through this wedding checklist to be sure you have taken care of all the items you need to at the one-month mark.
* By this point, you will have mailed out all of your invitations to your guests. Work on your RSVP list so you continually have a running total of all of the people who will be attending. If you have asked your guests to RSVP at the one-month mile marker, feel free to contact guests who have not gotten in contact with you to determine whether or not they will be attending.
* Before you even walk down the aisle, you will probably have received gifts from out of town relatives and from attendees of your wedding showers. Write thank you notes right away, so you do not end up with having to write a hundred notes right after the wedding.
* Many couples choose to have a wedding program at their ceremonies. These wedding programs list everybody¡¯s names (bride, groom, members of wedding party) as well as a schedule (or breakdown) of the ceremony itself. Design and print out your wedding programs this month to hand out at the ceremony.
* If all of your wedding party lives in the same city, schedule a final meeting where everyone can get together and discuss last minute concerns. Otherwise, simply call up the members of your wedding party to make sure they have ordered their dresses/tuxedos and to address any concerns.
* The groom must make sure his measurements have been taken at the tuxedo rental shop, as well as those of all his groomsmen. In addition, the bride and her bridesmaids must all go in and have their final alterations done to their gowns, to insure they will be ready for the big day.
* In order to make the wedding official, the county where you will be married requires that an official marriage license be purchased and adequately filled out. Approximately one month before the wedding date, visit your local county office and fill out the necessary paperwork and pay the required fee to get the ball rolling on your marriage license. Call your county office beforehand to see what requirements they may need for a marriage license (for example, many counties require that both the bride and groom come down in person to apply for the license).
* Schedule a final meeting with your DJ to discuss what music will be played at your wedding. For instance, you will want to decide on a specific song that will be played when you enter the reception hall as man and wife for the first time. You will also need a specific song playing when the groom slips the garter off the bride and when the bride has her bouquet toss. At this time, you will also discuss any songs you absolutely do not want to be played at your wedding. |
