With your wedding day fast approaching, there are so many things to think about. There are invitations to be sent out in a timely manner, dresses and tuxedos to fit into, rehearsal dinners and showers to plan and flowers and cakes to choose. When you and your fianc¨¦ sat down to plan your wedding ceremony, there was a list of options to choose from, including whether you would use the traditional wedding vows read by the officiate or your own written wedding vows. Writing your own wedding vows may seem like a daunting task, especially when you think of the entire audience listening in on your intimate feelings towards your fianc¨¦. However, writing your personal vows is nothing to panic about, as long as you follow these tips.

* First and foremost, start writing your wedding vows early. Waiting until the last minute not only assures you of additional stress and headache, it also means you may not have a chance to really get across how you feel since you will have less time to write down your thoughts. Brainstorm your thoughts first and take time to write a rough draft that can be revised before the actual wedding.

* It is tempting to place too much focus on how wedding guests will react to your vows. You do not want to get into a situation where you are writing your vows for the entertainment of the guests. Vows are extremely personal and should be catered towards your soon-to-be spouse. Be yourself. If you are a true romantic, be romantic. Remember, vows are intended to have an audience of one: your fianc¨¦/fianc¨¦e.

* With that being said, try not to mortify your soon-to-be spouse with any stories that may be embarrassing. For example, that drunken night at the bar when you two first met and fell in love may be better left unsaid, especially with your entire families sitting there. Nor would the story about the times you snuck out of the house in the middle of the night to meet each other when you were in high school bode over well, especially if this is the first time your parents are hearing about it.

* To get in the romantic spirit that will help you to write, think back on some of the more vivid memories of your time together. Recount that moment when you first realized you were in love with your fianc¨¦ or the night he asked you to marry him. These are the memories that will inspire you to write beautiful vows.

* What makes your fianc¨¦/fianc¨¦e unique? What is it about your loved one that made you realize that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with them? It is these small things that mean so much, like the fact that your loved one brings you hot coffee and toast every morning, or the way your fianc¨¦e laughs when she thinks nobody is watching. Brainstorm these little moments and you may find your vows will be very easy to write.
