If you have ever put a baby shower together, you know it is no easy task. You must organize the guest list, the invitations, the food and the venue. There are also the baby shower games. ¡°Games, too?!¡± you may be asking yourself. Yes, a baby shower is not a baby shower without games. Do not panic, though, because there are a ton of baby shower games that are guaranteed to make your baby shower a fun success.
Baby Pacifier Game
This is very similar to the clothespin game you may have played before. Upon arriving, each guest is presented with a pacifier. To make these, simply buy small pacifiers at a craft store and create a necklace by tying blue, pink or yellow ribbon through them. Each guest wears this pacifier necklace throughout the party. If anybody hears another guest use the word ¡°baby¡± they can take the pacifier necklace/s away from that guest. The guest with the most necklaces at the end of the party is the winner.
Messy Diaper Game
This is another game that can be played throughout the party. Make small one-inch diapers out of white felt and small gold safety pins that you purchase at a crafts store. Most of the ¡°diapers¡± will be clean but two of them will be dirty. Put a little dab of mustard on one diaper and a little bit of barbeque sauce on another diaper. Each guest will wear one of these diapers during the party, thinking they are just for decoration. At the end of the party, have each guest open their diaper and whoever gets the yellow diaper (representing pee) will get a door prize. Whoever gets the brown diaper (representing poop) will get a larger door prize.
Guessing Games
Buy 10 jars of different flavored baby foods and number them from 1 to 10 on each of the lids. Make sure you keep a master key of which number represents which particular baby food and then tear the labels off each jar. At the party, give each guest a paper plate (with the numbers one through ten written on it) and a plastic spoon. Pass the jars of food around and have each guest put a little spoonful of each food onto their plate. Once every guest has all ten baby foods on their plate, they will taste each one. Next to the food or on a separate piece of paper, the guest has to guess what the particular baby food flavor is. The guest who guesses the most correct foods wins.
Another guessing game you can play that is a lot of fun and is sure to elicit some crazy faces and responses is the smelly diaper game. Get ten disposable diapers and, before the party, smear different smelling products on each one. For example, you can smear some chili powder on one diaper and vanilla lotion on another. Each guest smells each diaper and then guesses what each smell is. The guest with the highest number of correct answers wins.
Co-Ed Games
Although many men will write off baby showers as girly events, co-ed baby showers are definitely a fun experience. One game for the men to play is the bottle game. Depending on how many men are at the party, fill that same number of regular-sized baby bottles with either apple juice or beer. Have all the men line up with their bottles and then when you scream, ¡°Go!¡± see which man drinks all of his juice the fastest.
You can also have couples play the diaper changing game. Each couple is given one disposable diaper and a baby doll to put the diaper on. The catch is that each member of the couple can only use one hand. So the couples will have to rely on teamwork to get the diaper changed quickly. The couple that changes the diaper the quickest (including a diaper that actually stays on) wins. |
