A wedding is an extra special moment in a couple's life, and you have decided to make your gift to them extra special too. Going from store to store looking for that perfect gift can be a draining experience. For special friends and family, we often wish to give them something that reminds them of their love for one another and our love for them.
Personalized wedding gifts come in many shapes and sizes. Some couples probably would not appreciate matching monogrammed golf clubs as much as the next, so keep their personality in mind as you choose. Below is a list of gifts that have that personal touch to make your gift memorable for years to come. Before buying, please be sure to find out if the bride intends to take her husband's name, keep her own, or hyphenate both names.
Personalized Invitation Photo Album or Frame - A couple's wedding invitation can be inscribed on an album or photo frame exactly as it appeared in your mailbox. The couple can fill the album with wedding pictures or you can fill it with candid shots of your own.
Wedding Afghan or Throw - You can have the couple's name and wedding date embroidered into a beautiful wedding themed blanket.
Clocks - Some companies carry a variety of clocks that can be personalized with a name, date, or event. They come in all varieties ranging from crystal to wood.
Luggage - You can have the couple's monogram put on a set of luggage. Not only will they love it, it will make finding their luggage easier after a long plane flight.
Quilt - If you are crafty, or know someone else who is, you can create a quilt for the newlyweds that they will cherish forever. Find photos of special moments they have shared and have them transferred onto material. For the remainder of the quilt, choose materials in the colors from their wedding.
Artwork - Do you know an artist? Have them create an oil or watercolor painting from one of the couple's wedding or engagement photos.
Guest Frame - Buy a large frame to bring with you to the ceremony or reception. You can ask each guest to sign it as time permits. Depending on the size of their wedding, there may be room for personal notes and well wishes also. After the day is over, you can add a photo of the couple to the frame. This gift will remind the newlyweds of everyone who witnessed their special day.
Gift Baskets - If the couple has a specific hobby they enjoy together, make up a basket including items they can use. You could also make one up specifically for their honeymoon by including wine, slippers, chocolate, and bubble bath.
Robes - Robes in matching colors can be monogrammed with the couple's initials for that special touch.
Coasters - Some companies offer personalized coaster sets for gifts. You can have your favorite wedding picture of the couple imprinted or put inside each coaster for a unique gift.
Name a Star - There are a few companies on the Internet offer a service to have a star named in someone's honor. This can be a gift to last a lifetime. This gift often comes with a certificate gift pack telling the recipient all the facts about their star.
Door knocker - If the couple already owns a home or will soon be buying one, a door knocker with the couple's name on it will be a cherished and useful gift.
Memory Box - There are a large variety of memory boxes available that can be personalized with a monogram, last name, wedding date, or photo. The newlyweds can store keepsakes from their wedding day in this box.
Personalized Mugs and Champagne Flutes - This may be a gift to give the couple before the wedding day to be used at their reception. You may also want to ask the couple about this first, because some couples will buy these themselves prior to the ceremony.
House Plaque - Often made of wood or metal, this gift states the name of the couple and their street address. It's a nice personal touch that replaces the simple house numbers many people use today.
Blown Glass - If you live near a glass blower, you can have something made in blown glass that may signify something special to the couple.
Framed Original Poetry - If you know someone who writes poetry, have him or her write a poem in the couple's honor. You can have it framed in a beautiful frame at your local craft store.
Champagne Bucket - A stainless steel bucket engraved with the couple's wedding date can be a great gift.
Pressed Framed Flowers - Flowers from the bride's bouquet can be pressed and preserved in a frame along with a poem, an invitation from the wedding, or a photo of the couple.
Personalized Wine Bottles - This can be something you do yourself, or have a company do for you. Design and print personalized labels including information about the couple. You can include wedding date, photo, or just about anything you can imagine. Buy any bottle of wine you wish and paste the label to the bottle. The couple can then toast themselves with their personalized bottle of wine on their honeymoon. |
