People judge each other within the first thirteen seconds of meeting each other. One aspect of a person that is scrutinized is one¡¯s grooming. It is not just a clean face and pressed clothes that catches and impresses one¡¯s eye. People pay attention to detail, such as nail maintenance.

Cuticles require special attention. Employ an orange stick to push them back. Tougher cuticles (especially toe nails) may require a cuticle cutter to cut them. Prime and soothe cuticles with cuticle cream. Cuticle cream may be substituted with olive oil. Olive oil is rich enough to soften tough cuticles in preparation for cutting. It can also be used as a hand moisturizer also.  

A fortified base coat is beneficial for the nails. Base coats come with specialties such as strengthener, hardener, vitamin enriched and more. Use a base coat to prime the nail for color, or use alone with a clear coat.

A clear coat may be used alone (primarily men and preteens), or on top of a color polish. Some women like to touch up their professional manicure with a clear coat, every few days. This technique works well on pedicures also.  

A bottle of nail polish remover and cotton balls erases an old or messed up manicure. There are acetone soaked sponge versions of nail polish remover. But they waste remover on the fingertips, as well as require a longer time to completely remove the polish. Cotton balls afford faster and more precise polish removal. Nail polish remover pens are good for minor mistakes.
