Unless you are eloping, do some research before you pick a wedding date.  Holidays are a busy time in Vegas. If you want to get married on Valentine¡¯s Day, you may need to book the chapel and hotel rooms a year or more in advance.  Also be conscious of big events that could make booking hotel rooms difficult for your guests.  Planning a wedding during a major convention could also mean higher room rates.  

Temperature wise, the best time to get married in Vegas is October through May.  If you must get married in the summer, bear in mind that the temperature often exceeds 100 degrees during the day.  Consider an early morning or evening wedding instead.  

There are over 100 chapels in Vegas, offering a wide variety of wedding options.  If you are looking for elegance and convenience, many of the hotels have beautiful chapels that seat up to 100 guests.  Most hotels offer packages that include professional photography, flowers, champagne and a video of the ceremony, making your wedding plans as easy as picking up the phone and booking a wedding date.  

For those looking for something a little more unique, you can get married on top of the Eiffel tower at Paris, in a gondola at The Venetian or on a pirate ship at Treasure Island.  Many of the chapels around town also offer fun wedding themes, such as Star Trek, Harley Davidson and even gothic.  If you can dream it, you can find an appropriate chapel in Las Vegas.   

If your wedding package doesn¡¯t include photography, flowers or cake, there are a number of vendors in Vegas who can help.  Unless you plan on taking a trip to Vegas first to meet with vendors, ask the chapel¡¯s wedding planner who they recommend or hire a wedding planner to take care of the details.  If you are planning on having a reception after the ceremony, many of the restaurants in Vegas will accommodate, but sometimes insist on a higher-priced menu.  Ask your wedding planner for some recommendations or make some phone calls yourself.   You can find reviews and prices for many of the restaurants in Vegas online.  Find a few that look appealing and ask about their rates.  If you are concerned about corralling 50 people from the chapel to the reception site, think about renting a limo bus.  A one-way trip can be fairly inexpensive and will take the headache out of finding enough cabs.  After the reception, guests can catch a cab at their leisure.  

Make sure to prepare your wedding garments and jewelry ahead of time and anticipate possible problems.  If you are flying to Vegas, ask your airline if they have a place where they can hang your dress on the plane.  Many flights will allow you to hang your gown in the front of the plane with the crew¡¯s luggage.  If not, be prepared to store your dress in the overhead compartment of the plane.  Put your shoes, jewelry and veil in the dress bag so nothing gets separated.  Once you arrive at the hotel, be prepared for a few wrinkles.  Most hotels offer next day steaming for a hefty cost.  Otherwise, buy a handheld steamer for less than $50 to handle small creases.  

If you want to have your hair, nails and makeup done for the big day, most hotels have a salon on site or you can make an appointment with an outside salon¡ªsome stylists will even come to your hotel room.  Make sure to book appointments well in advance, as they tend to book up quickly.

Once your wedding plans are confirmed and you arrive in Vegas, the last step is getting a marriage license.   Although obtaining a license is a hassle for most couples, getting a license in Vegas is as easy as taking a cab to the Clark County Courthouse, filling out some paperwork and showing your identification.  Both parties must be at least 18 years of age to be issued a marriage license without parental consent.  The courthouse is open daily between 8 a.m. and midnight, except holidays when they are open 24-hours. Depending on how long the line is when you arrive, the process shouldn¡¯t take more than 30 minutes to an hour.  A license will cost you $55.
