Before the actual wedding, friends and family members of the couple usually host a bridal shower where the couple gets ¡°showered¡± with gifts they will need for their new life together. While traditionally, a bridal shower was given for the bride and only women friends and family members were invited, it has been the trend lately to have co-ed bridal showers with both the bride and groom-to-be present. Most people will assume, upon getting a bridal shower invitation, that the party is for girls only, so if the party is going to be co-ed, be sure to specify that on the invitation so spouses and significant others can also be invited. The etiquette books will all argue on who should and who should not throw the bridal shower for the couple; in all honesty, it would be a nice gesture for any friend or family member to throw their loved one a bridal shower. Whether you are a friend or family member and you are hosting the shower, be sure to note this on the invitation as well, so any guest who may have questions on directions to the party or gifts for the couple can call and ask you specifically. The following invitation templates and samples will hopefully inspire you when creating your own bridal shower invitations.

Many bridal showers have themes like a tea party or lingerie party, so be sure to let your guests know what type of party it will be through the invitation. For example, the following invitation might be used for a lingerie-style bridal shower.
