A wedding program, though not necessary, has become popular and convenient.  It is a method of keeping everyone who attends the wedding ceremony involved.  It helps identify and honor those participating in the ceremony, while allowing guests the opportunity to follow what is happening during a, perhaps, unfamiliar event.  For some, it simply serves as a sentimental memento.

Wedding programs can be created professional from an outside printer, or on a home computer, a helpful budget pincher.  If you choose to have them professionally done, you can usually order them at the same time you order your wedding invitations.  This will insure they are following the same design and color scheme.  Be certain to watch your time line and order well in advance so programs arrive in time.  Should you prefer to create your own program, don¡¯t be intimated, follow these ideas for a calla lily themed program and apply your personal touch.  One advantage of creating your own program is printing them at the last minute ¨C should that flower girl decide it¡¯s too much responsibility, changes can be made.

A wedding program can be one page or more pages; utilizing plain or decorative paper and folded in any fashion that fits the wedding theme.  A program should contain the following information, though personal preference should be considered:

Names of those in the wedding party

Calla Lilies meaning is pure beauty; white, perfect and simply, this flower is a perfect theme and background to any wedding ceremony.  Many photographs can be scanned into a home computer and used as the background to a program, or serve as the front page of a multi-paged program.  If a live calla lily isn¡¯t available, simply photograph and scan a silk flower; slightly faded with wording over the background ¨C no one will know.  Utilize the internet as well, as many photographs can be downloaded free of charge.

For the crafter in the family, calla lilies formed from paper can be made and attached to the program for that extra special touch.  Best results come from a program background of dark green with white lilies glued to the front.  Simply start with a white square of paper (3¡± x 3¡±), with scissors slightly round two edges ¨C these will be the top edges of the lily.  Wrap the UN-rounded edges towards each other until they slightly overlap in the center, glue in place.  Cut a length of yellow pipe cleaner (about an inch) and glue in place from the center of the ¡°lily.¡±  Attach to the program as a single lily or as a bouquet.

Cascading ribbon from each lily will compliment the program should it look too plain.

Don¡¯t be afraid to get creative; add a real lily to each program or punch two holes in the program, run a ribbon through the holes and attach a calla lily bulb to the program for each guest; once planted and blossoms arrive, your wedding will never be forgotten.
