If you have made the decision to quit smoking, congratulations! Keep in mind that this is going to be a challenge, one that is harder for some people than it is for others. There also a plethora of different ways to quit, ranging from cold turkey to nicotine replacement therapy to hypnosis. While hypnosis has gained a considerable amount of media attention in recent years, its validity is often speculated about. This should come as no surprise, considering that hypnosis in general has been scrutinized since its origination. If you don*t believe in the validity of hypnosis, then why would you believe in the validity of hypnosis as an effective method of quitting smoking? That doesn*t sound like a very good idea, and in fact it sounds like something you would only try if you*re not very serious about giving up your nicotine habit. You*ll be setting yourself up for disaster if you try to quit with a method that you don*t believe in. However, if you do believe that hypnosis is real and can work, that it is certainly worth a try. Just don*t put all of your eggs in one basket 每 if hypnosis does not work for you, then you should try another smoking cessation method 每 right away.
Due to the fact that there isn*t a standard method of administering hypnosis 每 it is not a medical art 每 it is difficult to measure its effectiveness. Some hypnosis professionals attest that they can help someone to give up smoking within just one session, while others claim that it will take up to twenty sessions before someone is able to really kick the habit. Oftentimes, hypnotists who specialize in smoking cessation will combine other stop-smoking tools with the hypnosis treatment. Therefore, it is unknown whether the hypnosis or the other tools were what ultimately helped someone to quit smoking. Of course, if it works, who cares? If you are able to be confident that hypnosis is going to work for you, then you have a far better chance of succeeding with it. Your mind is an incredibly powerful tool, and you can use it to play tricks on yourself. Basically, you're hypnotizing yourself to believe that the hypnosis is going to work, and therefore you are setting yourself up for success. If you were to go into the hypnosis thinking, ※I'll never be able to quit smoking; this is not going to work for me," then you would be setting yourself up for failure. Always remember that you will be much happier with the glass that is half full than the one that is half empty. In order to quit smoking you really have to believe in yourself. Your body is going to be telling you that you need nicotine, and your mind has to be prepared to turn your body down.
In a recent study, it was stated that hypnosis may be more helpful to men than it is to women when it comes to smoking cessation. However, the reason for that ratio could simply be attributed to the fact that women generally have a harder time quitting than men do. Women will worry about weight gain and failure more than their male counterparts when they attempt to quit. What*s strange about the study is that, in general, women are actually slightly easier to hypnotize than men are.
Basically, if you have tried to quit smoking using several different methods in the past and you have not succeeded, then, other than spending some money, there is no reason that you shouldn*t give hypnosis a chance. It*s not going to hurt you 每 but it also quite possibly won*t work for you. Some individuals who have had success with hypnosis as a smoking cessation method have stated that after their hypnosis, they never had a craving again. While there is no way to determine whether that is a direct result of the hypnosis or not, it certainly makes hypnosis sound like a viable option to try. Good luck on your quest to quit smoking 每 you can do it. |
