When you come home from the grocery store you probably end up with a big pile of plastic grocery bags that you have to dispose of. Some stores will recycle the bags for you if you bring them back but most of us toss them in the trash or stuff them underneath the kitchen sink. You can find lots of good uses for these plastic bags around the house even if you can¡¯t cover your kids¡¯ books with them like the brown paper bags of yesterday. Try these ten ideas.
If you¡¯ve ever had a bear tear out your garbage or a garbage bag break on the way to the can you know what a disgusting mess you have to clean up. Put a plastic grocery bag on each hand and you can pick up the garbage without touching smelly garbage. Just toss the bags into the garbage can when you¡¯re done.
You can make a great mat for the bathtub or shower out of plastic grocery bags. Just cut the bags into two-inch wide strips and tie them together. You can crochet the strips of plastic just like yarn into the mat of your choice.

Use plastic grocery bags for stuffing in items like throw pillows, draft stoppers, and puffy valances on your windows.

Bring your plastic bags to local food pantries, libraries, and thrift shops. These places usually don¡¯t have the money to spare to purchase bags and they are always needed.
Pack some plastic grocery bags in your luggage the next time you go on a trip. When you come home you can put your dirty clothing into plastic bags and your clean clothes won¡¯t get dirty. This saves you time doing laundry when you return!
Don¡¯t go to the beach without a bunch of plastic grocery bags. You can put your wet bathing suits and sandy towels into plastic bags to keep your car clean. Kids are always looking for somewhere to keep the shells and rocks they find at the beach and a plastic bag is the perfect thing.
