It's time to replace trampoline springs when they are one year old. They must also be replaced if they show signs of rust, defects, or loss of function. Sometimes on certain metals rust or oxidation shows up as a white powdery discoloration. 

Check and see if the spring coils are tight. Make sure they are the correct size for the trampoline. The springs should have a cover over every one of them for safety. Many people are injured by striking an uncovered spring when using the trampoline. There should be no missing springs.

It is reccommended that the springs be placed by people on opposite ends of the trampoline so as to keep the tautness even. After attatching a few it may start to get really hard to pull the springs to the connecting points. Get the tool and hook it to either the spring or the connecting point and pull them together. It is not impossible to do so make sure the the connections are complete. The best trampoline is a safe trampoline.

After ensuring that the spring and the connections to the frame and the trampoline are in good condition, connected correctly, and covered it is a good idea to inspect the frame also. The safety nets and other safety devices now offerred with trampolines should not in any way hinder the replacement of the springs.

Another thing to keep in mind is not to damage the springs when attatching them. This might be difficult to do as the springs are usually very stout but to place a damaged spring on a trampoline is only inviting possible injury.

It is very easy to acquire new springs. They can usually be purchased where the trampoline was originally bought or they can be paid for at many department stores or sporting good stores. Some hardware stores even cary them. The springs can also be purchased on the internet.

The cost of new springs is not too expensive. And it is a good idea to replace all the springs at one time rather than just a few at a time. That way it is easier to ensure that the springs are always going to be up-to-date all around.
