If you are trying to come up with the perfect gift for your bowling enthusiast loved one, you should consider making a set of handmade bowling ornaments. A set of Christmas tree ornaments with a bowling theme will make a thoughtful and personal gift, and the recipient will be able to enjoy this fun set every holiday season. Your set of bowling ornaments will consist of a bowling shoe ornament, a bowling pin ornament, a bowling ball ornament, and a bowling shirt ornament. You should be able to find the materials needed at your local crafts store or on the internet. This is a project that you should be able to complete in just a few hours, and you do not have to be a skilled artist to make them. In fact, if you have children who enjoy making crafts, feel free to get them involved too! Here¡¯s what you¡¯ll need to make each bowling ornament:
Bowling Shoe materials: 2¡± white doll sneaker with laces, red and green fabric puff paint, white glue, silver and gold glitter, ornament hook
Bowling Pin materials: miniature bowling pin, aluminum foil, red pipe cleaner, white glue, thin red ribbon, small jingle bell, ornament hook
Bowling Ball materials: ping pong ball, 3 black sequins, translucent glitter, white glue, ornament hook
Bowling Shirt materials: small (as in around a Ken doll¡¯s size) white, short-sleeved collared doll¡¯s shirt, red and green puff paint, silver and gold glitter, white glue, ornament hook
Here¡¯s how to make them:
Bowling Shoe
First, stuff your doll shoe with tissue so that it will be easier for you to decorate the outside of the shoe. Next, use your green fabric puff paint to carefully color the front and back of the shoe (not the sides). If your puff paint does not have a writing tip, use a small paint brush to apply the color. Next, color the sides of the shoe with red paint. After the puff paints have dried, draw lines with your white glue between the red and the green paint, then cover the front glue lines with silver glitter and the back glue lines with gold glitter. To finish this ornament off, attach it to your ornament hook.
Bowling Pin
Cover your miniature bowling pin with aluminum foil (shiny side up). Next, wrap your red pipe cleaner around the neck of the bowling pin. To finish up your bowling pin, make a bow out of your red ribbon and glue it to the top of the pin. Once the ribbon has dried onto the ornament, push your ornament hook through the center of ribbon.
Bowling Ball
Coat your ping pong ball in white glue, and then cover it with translucent glitter. Allow the ball to dry, and then glue on your three black sequins so that they form the finger holes for your bowling ball. Glue your jingle bell to the top of the bowling ball, and then attach your ornament hook to the bell once the glue has dried.
Bowling Shirt
Paint the sleeves of the doll shirt green with your fabric paint, and then paint the rest of the shirt red. Once the paint has dried, draw two vertical strips on one side of the shirt with glue, and then coat the stripes with silver and gold glitter. Push your ornament hook through the collar of the shirt to finish the ornament. For a special touch, use a real bowling score card, decorated with sequins and glitter, to create your gift card with the ornament set. |
